Product Description

This exciting anthology contains stories from twenty-five women from different parts of the world. Their ages differ, as do their backgrounds and locations, but one thing they all have in common is a spirit of independence and a determination to not only succeed, but prevail. Whether their struggles are to maintain balance between motherhood and career, escape from an abusive relationship, or to step out in faith and pursue a dream, all of these women have forged their own path.

As women, one of our most powerful "gifts" is the ability to encourage one another. This book is an effort to encourage women across the world. These twenty-five women share stories that will make you laugh, inspire you, and maybe even make you cry. Their hope is that these stories will inspire YOUR independent spirit and allow you to live the life you were meant to live.

In addition, each woman has included a “sneak peek” into one of her own novels.

All proceeds from this book will go a charitable organizaton that fights breast cancer - a disease all too close to home for many of us. Our prayers and best wishes are with those who are struggling with this terrible and devastating disease. Buy a book for yourself and “gift” one to the important women in your life. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for your support.

About the Author

Gathered by Cheryl Shireman, the Indie Chicks are a group of women writers who enjoy supporting and encouraging other women writers. We have all published in various ways - independently, with traditional publishers, or by combining both methods. No matter how published, we have one thing in common - a love of writing and an independent spirit. In our ranks, you will find much-acclaimed bestsellers and also a few writers who are just starting out. We live in various parts of the world and come from a variety of backgrounds. Originally, we gathered together to create one anthology. The experience was so enjoyable that many of us decided to continue together to create more anthologies. We believe that together we can make a difference not only in each other’s lives, but in the world. All proceeds from the various Indie Chicks Anthologies go to charitable organizations. We hope you will stop by the Indie Chicks Café - our website where you will not only find all of our books, but where you can also find all of us hanging out and blogging about various topics close to our hearts. www.indiechickscafe.com Twitter - www.twitter.com/indiechickscafe Facebook - www.facebook.com/indiechicksanthology

5.0 out of 5 stars A review by Free Book Reviews 8 Nov 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
If you have been following this blog for any amount of time (if not then you should), you know that I review books and interview indie authors. I support indie authors as much as any one person can. I know that I state in the about page that I do this because of my wife (RJ Palmer) but this is not the case anymore. I started out just wanting a way to benefit her and I can admit that this was purely for greed and love of a wife, but in the time since I started this blog I have grown. I have met some incredibly talented, honest, helpful, cheerful and the adjectives could go on forever people. These authors not only pour their heart into their own baby but they work together as a community to help others in their craft get better, thus making a better experience for us readers. Show me other arenas where the stars work together to better the experience for the consumer. These authors do their all fire best to take new indie authors under their wings and cultivate the storyteller to a level that really fine tunes their craft. I have to say that at this point I am happy that I fell into this world feet first and have not looked back since and I am sure my wife feels the same.

Now how does any of the above go with a review of a book? How does this help you decide on whether or not to purchase it? Why should you care how I feel? How did you get here when you used a different search term?

I can not answer any of these questions, only you, the reader of this, can. Now on to the review. I had thought that I would review the book overall instead of per story as there are 25 stories. I feel that reviewing each story would detract from the overall meaning of the book. Also at the end of this review I will include a small note from each of the authors of this book. Pleas share this work with everyone you know.

There comes a time when, as a reviewer (professional or indie), that you come across a book that reaches deep within your soul and grabs your heart then refuses to relinquish either. This book is filled with pages of undiluted emotion and the baring of souls that you were not expecting. You are so touched by the story or stories that you can not or I should say will not put it down. This book makes you laugh with joy, cry with pain, shake with anger, sneer with contempt and smile with triumph. Indie Chicks is that book for me. I approached this book with some trepidation as it is an anthology and I am not particularly fond of those but it is filled with 25 of the who's who of Indie Chick authors, so I figured I would give it a go.

I then started this journey without realizing that I would be so moved. These women bared their souls in one book, for the world to see and did so without looking back. The psychologist in me says that this was part of the healing process but the man in me says they need to be held and loved and told that everything will be alright. However the overall meaning is not lost and I realize that in truth this was meant as a journey of overcoming the seemingly impossible with determination, grit and self worth. Indie Chicks teaches women to pick themselves up and overcome what is thrown at them because they are worth it and can not be held down when they chose not to be. Each story runs smoothly with the others to reach this overall expression with or t=without the Indie Chicks realization. The writing in each story is flawless, raw and the emotional highs will drive you from one to the next. I recommend this to every woman on the planet, especially those in situations of despair or depression. I recommend this for every man on the planet because to love a woman, respect a woman and honor a woman does not make you gay. Besides we may all learn something.

I realize that the proceeds of this book go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation but I would prefer you bought it based on the overall expression of the book. Let us ring two bells at once, buy this book because all proceeds go to the boobs and also because women are more than boobs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving and inspiring 7 Dec 2011
By F Dyas
Format:Kindle Edition
I have taken so long to come round to finishing reading and reviewing this anthology, as I keep dipping in, reading the inspiring stories that these women authors tell, and getting so drawn into the books that I have to go and buy them as I go along! They aren't all my cup of tea, but there are plenty of books I would never have downloaded and now I feel I have discovered loads of new authors. There is something for everyone. And the stories the authors tell really touched me.
This is a great anthology, well worth the money (for charity).

What a fantastic and inspirational idea! This is a brilliant way to try different authors work and a way to find new books to read while at the same time supporting a great and worthy cause. It is also a great book for dipping in and out of in the short free spaces of a busy life. This will also help to inspire and encourage women to change their lives for the better.
