5.0 out of 5 stars A pacey read 5 Mar 2012
By HollyB
Format:Paperback
This is an impressive debut book which gathers a great pace as it moves along. The writer clearly understands how we mere mortals are desperate to see behind the scenes of an LA celebrity lifestyle and is able to introduce the reader to the glamour and luxury of LA though the eyes of someone just like the rest of us!

But the book goes beyond all the surface gloss and gets right underneath the skin of the LA sunshine lifestyle, showing how glamour and money don't necessarily bring happiness. It also helps to show us that being true to yourself is the most important thing, and people are happiest when they are doing something they really love.

Above all I simply enjoyed being swept away into this wonderfully idyllic lifestyle; I could almost taste the wine and feel the heat of the sunshine - a great escape from the rain for a short while!

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect escape from the British weather 16 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
India's Summer is everything I was looking for on a chilly English day. It is escapism at it's best as we tag along with India living the life many of us only dream about.

Light hearted and warm, India is the sort of character the reader will envy but cannot help liking, which is not an easy balance to achieve.

I recommend India's Summer for many reasons, not least for the glimpse it gives us into the life behind the glamour.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish 21 April 2012
By Suravi
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I had downloaded this book for 2 reasons: it was HIGHLY recommended by a thinker & educator I respect, Ken Robinson (the author's husband); and it was free. I found this book painfully unoriginal, awfully formulaic, and much like the "Prada boots", "Hermes scarf" & "cath kidston pyjamas" which serve as adjectives, this book reads like a hashed together 3rd rate B movie that is on it's umpteenth re-run on a dead of the night broadcast. The plot is tired, the characters 1D, plot twists so predictable, and dialogues so immature that they are cringeworthy. I guess love really is blind!
