Same Jones, more lighthearted 24 Jun 2011
By Enjolras - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The soundtrack for Last Crusade has many of the familiar themes from Raiders of the Lost Ark, but it's a bit of a lighter mood, reflecting the film itself. Overall, it's probably not as dramatic as Raiders, but it has its moments. I particularly like the fact that the Nazi theme is better defined and more ominous. You can really pick it out in the middle of the album. If you do want this album though, be sure to get the 2008/2009 release as it has 6 additional tracks. Also, the Indiana Jones: The Soundtracks Collection has an additional disc with several tracks of previously unreleased Last Crusade music.
Another great Indiana Jones soundtrack by John Williams 15 May 2012

Format:Audio CD
The third Indiana Jones film, the Last Crusade, was considered - until 2008 - to be the last of the on-screen adventures of the whip-cracking archaeologist. It also carries one of the best soundtracks of the series; as usual, John Williams measures up to his very high standard.

This release presents several cues that were previously unreleased; some tracks also contain music that was previously unreleased. Some of the unreleased tracks include 'The Boat Scene', showing Indy recovering the Cross of Coronado from a crooked antiquities collector aboard a ship off the Portuguese coast; 'The Austrian Way', in which Indy meets his Nazi adversary - the evil SS Colonel Vogel; 'Alarm!', when Indy & Henry Jones escape their ropes and flee Brunwald Castle, leading to the lively theme of 'Scherzo for Motorcycle & Orchestra'; and 'On the Tank', an extension of the confrontation between Indy's group and the Nazi-led armored group heading for the 'Canyon of the Crescent Moon'.

One of the loveliest melodies in the trilogy is the 'Grail Theme'; this is heard in several places - a marvelous oboe & string motif; the Nazi theme is more belligerent & menacing here than in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' as well.

This is a score that is not to be missed; I would place it either 1st or 2nd among the scores for the IJ movies.

Love this music. Having seen the movie many times, I can close my eyes and relive the movie just listening to it.
