Product Description

Review

In a sea of global content, few stand out as influential or as passionate as Vikas Pota, in providing a fresh, new perspective to the subject of India Inc going global. By telling the stories of some of India s best business brains, this book provides a fantastic insight of how the big challenges of our time are being tackled by the next wave of globally successful entrepreneurs. --S. A. Hasan, Director, TATA Ltd.

His book is an anthology of ten of India's most successful global entrepreneurs...[and]...it is the diversity in the stories which have both the capacity to inspire and teach. And I don't believe this understanding is exclusively useful for entrepreneurs. It is important for all as we move into a world economy where these people will have more commercial impact on British business than perhaps Europe and the US. --Professional Manager

An important work for anyone who is trying to understand the India of today in the business of tomorrow. It offers a unique insight into what drives an Indian to conquer the world. A must-read for anyone who wishes to understand the DNA of today's Indian titans and what makes them tick around the world. --Suhel Seth, Managing Partner, Counselage (and Advisor to TATA + Board member of BA)

4.0 out of 5 stars Revealing minibiographies of 10 highly successful Indian entrepreneurs, 16 Aug 2011
By
Rolf Dobelli "getAbstract" (Switzerland) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: India Inc: How India's Top Ten Entrepreneurs are Winning Globally (Hardcover)
An old Hindi proverb says, "Mare bina swarg nahi milta." Never have truer words been spoken. In fact, this adage could be the mantra of all 10 visionary, gutsy entrepreneurs profiled in Vikas Pota's book about celebrated corporate leaders in India. Pota's treatise offers intriguing insights into the backgrounds, beliefs, values and attitudes of these highly prosperous business leaders. While Pota's access to such renowned members of India's commercial sphere is impressive, his minibiographies do not contain much practical advice on how to emulate these stars or how to establish an enterprise in India, and the stories overindulge in figures and statistics, which hinder reading. However, getAbstract recommends this book to global managers seeking a solid overview of India's business environment and to those looking for inspiration to launch a start-up anywhere in the world. And that old Hindi proverb? "Without death, there can be no heaven": Great things can only be achieved through great effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indian Heroes of 21st century ..., 13 May 2010
This review is from: India Inc: How India's Top Ten Entrepreneurs are Winning Globally (Hardcover)
8 different Industries, 10 Top Executives; individually they are worth over millions, jointly their companies are over $105b in market capitalisation, thus making them bigger than likes of eBay, Amazon, Yahoo, Vodafone, Dell & BT.
Most of them are still relatively unknown heroes in overseas world and though their names are not as established as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Richard Branson yet, India Inc CEOs are not far behind.
Vikas Pota has done a sterling job in bringing out the real story of these giants to the world and has used relatively straight forward but powerful language to highlight the ups and downs of their lives and why they all deserve a place in the history of top people who changed the 21st Century.
No matter which country you are from, what religion you belong, if you need to understand the great minds that have helped shape the India of today and set the path for tomorrow, this is a must-read.
Highly recommended !
