Product Description

Ever wondered why some talented musicians never seem to get that far, yet another average musician seems to be getting all the breaks? This is no coincidence; those that know how to handle themselves in the music industry will generally do much better then those that don't.

Being a successful independent musician isn't just about how talented you are. You could be one of the best singers or rappers in the world, but if you don't handle yourself and your music career correctly, you won't get very far at all. Thankfully, those traits needed to do well are ones that can be learned.

In this guide, I aim to give you the tools needed to do well as an independent musician. This includes help on the mentality you need to adopt, and the knowledge of what not to do. This is not a guide on how to market your music or how to improve your talent, this is something much more, yet just as important. Have a look at the table of contents to see exactly what you get in this guide.

If you want to do well in the music industry and avoid the common mistakes most independent musicians make, The Independent Musicians Survival Guide is for you. Pick up a copy right now.

Additional Notes:

This book is suitable for all musicians, no matter what genre of music you make.

By the end of this book, you will have a good sense of what it takes to do well in your music career, you will know how much money you can really make as an independent musician, and you will hopefully have the motivation to go out and make things work for you.

This music industry guide is written by Shaun Letang, owner of Music Industry How To. Other people that have contributed to this music business book include Christine Infanger at Thirty Roses, Chris Rockett at Music Marketing Classroom, and some of the Music Industry How To insider members.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent advice, delivered in a clear way 9 Sep 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Shaun Letang's writing is quite conversational and his approach to the business of music is very down to earth. Therefore, the "Survival guide" is what it says it is, a survival guide, with many step by step techniques to help navigate the music industry. Shaun doesn't promise the whole process will be easy, but he makes it simpler by providing tools and methods every indie musician can use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad Grammar 13 Dec 2012

It gives a lot of information but the grammar needs a lot of work. It was so bad that it made it too distracting to bother trying to finish the book.

This guide is very helpful for artists who can't seem to pin the nail on certain aspects of their craft or music. The guide easily breaks down the main aspects of what an artist should work to further their career more professionally.
5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for musicians who want to make money 21 Oct 2012
By Dieter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Music and Business. Without getting too philosophical here, it seems to be as if two inherently different worlds collide. I am a guitarist and I am a business owner. Thankfully, in my case the two have nothing to do with each other. As a guitar player I know for a fact that most fellow musicians have absolutely no sense for business in general. Some of them don't care because they are what is referred to as "bedroom players" with no ambition to make a living with performing. But the vast majority of them does actually want or need to be successful in order to get by, or even more seriously, support their family. That's when the separation of arts and business inevitably has to come to a stop. It turns into a matter of survival and it requires a change in the musician's mindset in order to actually market and sell his product.

The author of the Independent Musician's Survival Guide Shaun Letang managed elegantly to describe the criticality of selling music as regular business for those who are seriously interested in making money with their art. This requires commitment, strategy and a comprehensive roadmap. And this is exactly what the Independent Musician's Survival Guide delivers in form of easy to read and understand chapters. The reader gets profound and practical advice that can help to transform the payouts at the occasional gig in a local venue to a global business with the objective of maintaining a lucrative long-term income.

A must-read, highly recommended.
