Format:Audio CD
WARNING - This is not a critique of some of the finest music of any genre ever to have been pressed into vinyl, burned onto CD, magnetised on to tape and reduced to MP3 storage.
The last six songs (that is side two of the record) of the 5,000 Spirits CD all have the vocals double tracked. The result is an odd sort of echo effect which completely ruined my appreciation of my all-time favourite band's eternal and magical music.
Is this a fault in manufacture somehow? I don't have the single CD edition to compare and I would welcome any information. Maybe mine is a faulty batch though surely all the CDs will be exactly the same.
So five stars for the music. One star for the remastering.

as with the above reviewers, i discovered on the second cd which is 5000 spirits, there has been some kind of mastering fault meaning it sounds terrible instead of the amazing album it really is.

I completely agree with the other reviewer. Although it is great to hear these wonderfully quirky songs again on a well matched compilation the recording is TERRIBLE! This is particularly so on the 5000 Spirits where on a number of tracks the two channels are not synchronized, with voice and instruments coming slightly delayed between left and right. This leads to a real cacophony which, to add insult to injury, sounds like it was recorded in a toilet. It destroys "First Girl I Loved" which is true sacrilege. Shame on your QC department Warner.
