Amazing Shrine! 11 Oct 2002
By Anthea Ng - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
'Incidents at the shrine'?The title on the book caught my eyes. There were bright red petals and a blurry shadow of a man.'What were the incidents?'The question raised in my brain when I picked the book from the bookshelf in library.I'm interested in finding the mystery enclosed in the book cover. So I decided to find the answers of my questions.

The book is written by Ben Okri.He is the winner of the 1991 Booker Prize. The book told a mysterious tale.A small man called Anderson had been sacked by his boss because of a petty fault. After that,he had experienced a series of bad luck and met something weird. Then he got a secret power from his adventure.

I like the book. The story is full of African religious feature. It is beautiful! There was a fine description on the shrine and religious ceremonies. After I read the book,it seems that I witnessed the African rite personally.

The most appreciative characteristic of the story is the way how the author write the feeling of Anderson.Sight, hearing ,taste,as well as smelling of Anderson, were all included to describe him.
Anderson was just like a real man.

There were many clues throughout the tale which make the readers think and attract people go on to read it.This is an amazing tale.I would like to recommend it to teenagers aged 15-18.
