Product Description

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) directs an international cast in this sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the best there is at extraction: stealing valuable secrets inside the subconscious during the mind’s vulnerable dream state. His skill has made him a coveted player in industrial espionage but also has made him a fugitive and cost him dearly. Now he may get a second chance if he can do the impossible: inception, planting an idea rather than stealing one. If they succeed, Cobb and his team could pull off the perfect crime. But no planning or expertise can prepare them for a dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy only Cobb could have seen coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best movies - ever 26 April 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This is one of my top favourite movies. Not only the plot is incredebly clever and intriguing, the photography is also stunning and one of the few movies where special effects actually add to the story rather than distracting from it.

In a nutshell, having discovered a way to break into other people's dreams to "steal" ideas, a group of "criminals" is assigned a mission going in the opposite direction. They must "implant" an idea, which makes their task even more difficult. Since in dreams we live forever, the task is complicated even further by a dead woman who just does not want to stay dead.

You can watch it over and over and still find something new in every viewing. Definitely recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great attention holder 23 April 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I bought this as it had Leonardo in and was such a good price. I watched it last night and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It certainly holds your attention and is quite complex, which I love as it makes you forget everything else that is going on. There are several layers to the dreams Leonardo goes into, so you do have to pay attention to remember which layer of dream he is in, as usual his acting is superb and the rest of the cast was very good too. A very original theme which I really enjoyed. Highly recommended for a cheap, entertaining evenings viewing.

5.0 out of 5 stars ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THIS? 17 Feb 2011
By NeuroSplicer TOP 500 REVIEWER
A movie built like a labyrinth, complete with a menacing minotauric presence and a guiding Ariadne; worlds within worlds and dreams reflected onto dreams like an infinity mirror effect.

Nolan takes the viewer deep, deeper than any other filmmaker in memory, and without holding your hand all the way he never lets you get lost. His vision has years compressed into hours, Paris folding onto itself, militarized minds and entire worlds built out of a single person's imagination. Yet in the end, his logic is solid and his story scintillatingly brilliant.

This is bioSciFi, cyberpunk and action movie all rolled into a complex story in the near future, where not even our dreams will be safe and sharing our subconscious fears and fixations will only be an induced REM cycle away.

Have you tried your Totem yet?
Then how can you be sure?

I am 81 yrs old and this dvd held me enthralled especially the weightlessness fighting. Certainly one of the best movies 2010.
It is also one of those movies you have to watch several times to catch up on what you missed first time around

5.0 out of 5 stars Subconsciously Thrilling 5 Jan 2011
I really enjoyed this film, and must credit Chris Nolan with having a higher regard for his audience than other directors. The film starts fast and doesn't break it's pace till the credits roll, if you are after a popcorn film you can enjoy and not pay too much attention to, this is not it. You need to concentrate from the beginning, and it may well take a couple of viewings to understand.

Fantastic, complex and intriguing, it will have you guessing till the very end and thinking about the nature of dreams and your own subconscious long after you have finished watching. Or at least, that is my opinion. ;P

1.0 out of 5 stars This is a good film let down by a dreadful DVD 22 Feb 2012
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
The image quality in parts of the film is so bad that at first I believed I had a faulty monitor. The problem seems to be actually with the DVD which has been mastered so poorly that you can see pixelation and stair stepping in the movie - not occasionally, but right through out the film. The problem is not very noticeable on a small monitor, but on a good quality widescreen monitor you can easily tell something is wrong.

The story and the drama is actually very good - the acting is excellent and the music by Hans Zimmer is first rate. The special effects are stunning: this was definitely a big screen movie, and its a shame that in transferring it to DVD the film makers have produced a third rate product.

This is the two disc edition and the extra features are fairly pointless. It has no director commentary or anything else to make the second disc worthwhile. The cartoon backstory and the promotional art gallery ARE interesting but the cartoon is only a storyboard (no moving action) and the art gallery is over in a few minutes.

I hope at some stage that Warner Home Video bring out a DVD of a quality that this movie deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got to watch it more than once! 8 Feb 2014
By Matty
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
A very complicated and indepth film, have to admit I had to watch it 3 times too fully understand and appreciate the whole "dream with in a dream" idea. Very interesting, be scary if it were possible in real life! There is plenty of action & content too keep you entertained.. Loved it!

Not a film for the light thinkers of this world, as.. similer too the matrix, it does go quite deep.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best. 23 Mar 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Yes it is. I really don't know why people are sniffy towards this film. It's fantastic, edge of the seat fun to perfectly dial out 'the real world'. That's the actual real world, as in the one we live in. Not the Matrix.
