Reviews

Combine the juvenile smut of SUPERBAD with the cringing embarrassment of PEEP SHOW, against the 'stylish' backdrop of GRANGE HILL, and what do you get? E4's hilarious comedy THE INBETWEENERS. A super sharp, one-liner packed celebration of the highs and lows of being a teenager. Perfectly capturing the relentless disappointment of suburban adolescence, the show's four main characters yearn for sex, booze and cheap thrills, without the emotional maturity, money or ID to get them. Briefcase-carrying nerd Will (Simon Bird) has recently left the relative sophistication of private school to join Rudge Park Comprehensive, where he befriends Simon (Joe Thomas), Jay (James Buckley) and Neil (Blake Harrison); a group precariously straddling the social gulf between the in-crowd and the outcasts. This release contains the complete first series, and features a wealth of rubbish insults, even more rubbish come-backs, and plenty of mum-jokes. With some invaluable life-lessons on wooing the ladies, bunking off school, getting served in the pub, and why you should always, always remember proper etiquette on a roller coaster.

I watched some of the episodes the first time round but kept on forgetting it was on each week. Have recently found it being repeated by accident a couple of weeks ago after watching Desperate Housewives. Both my son (17) and I (46) were in stitches and crying with laughter. can't wait to watch the episode with the car - as it reminded me of my son starting his driving lessons!! and am soooo looking forward to watching the episodes I haven't yet seen

I found this programme on E4 by accident a few weeks ago, and, honestly, it's one of the best/funniest things I've ever seen. Made me laugh out loud and I can't remember the last time that happened. (I'm a miserable ***). All the characters and general plots have been well described by others so I won't repeat their comments apart from agreeing wholeheartedly with them - apart from one (Right, Graeme?) So glad it's on DVD and there MUST be another series. I wish I could buy the entire cast/crew/writers and everyone else a drink.

I'm approaching 40 and love The Inbetweeners. Granted, it's not the most sophisticated comedy in the world, it's silly and puerile but it absolutely appeals to my sense of humour; the characters are all completely loveable and I'm sure most teenagers can relate to them. What can I say? Just buy it, you won't be disappointed.

This is so funny. It will make you laugh out loud with the stuff these lads get up to. There are plenty of funny scenes, but you will have to buy it and find out cause I can't fit them all in here ...and Will's mum really is fit aswell!

This is a work of pure genius, it is very juvenile humour though and I can see why some may not like it but it is perfect for me, everything that was right about being 16 is in this, get it!

I saw the 6th episode on e4 last night, and have to say its one of the best shows for a long time. its incredibly easy to relate to, not one episode lets it down and i just pray to god they commission a second series, and perhaps airing it on channel 4 to boost ratings might help.

Imagine being taken out of your private school and having to go to the local comprehensive, trying to fit in when you clearly don't.

Poor Will, trying to make friends and trying to impress. There are lots of moments which make you want to cringe, especially the vomiting, on Nemesis at Thorpe Park and at the caravan club disco.

This is the sort of DVD to watch when you want to relax over a drink or two and not need to use many brain cells. It's fun, and had me laughing out loud, and as a middle aged woman I don't usually find juvenile humour funny!
