Bought this to replace a flaky Renesas chip powered 2 port card. This Inateck card has performed better than could be expected. After placing order I checked the comments section again and followed all the links given as regards to fualts etc.I too went on Western Digital's forums and the only comments I could see were related to the "Passport" drives mentioned below.

With regard to Western Digital hard drives there may well be problem (? only) with the "Passport" series. I have 16 WD storage drives used as needed in a docking station, as well as 6 2-4TB WD "My Book" external hard drives. NOT ONE of these drives has failed in a) being recogonised or b) failed in any way in transfers etc.
Transfer speed tests I have not carried up to now but will be done tomorrow, so far I'm happy with what I have seen.

This card is running in a pci-e x1 slot, so I know the speeds in transfer will be slightly down to later x2+ slots(recommended is x2).

All in all, this a good product,

It is unusual for me to do reviews, but as a computer engineer of 25 years standing, I had to put some peoples mind at rest.
The points mentioned above may only relate to 1 specific series of hard drives.

JUST make sure that computer this is to be installed in, has the minimum of pci-e slot x1, preferably x2 or above slots.

Sorry, the above line is slightly misleading. Should read v2(version 2 or above) slots to obtain the possible full speed in transfers.

Having gone through some reviews, I was cautious that the Inateck would have compatibility issues with WD drives. So once mounted I immediately connected my 3 WD external drives, including the latest 2TB My Passport Ultra, and am pleased to report that I have no problems whatsoever.

Installing the card is very easy, and no force is needed to secure it in place. The useful bundled accessories come in very handy, as the USB card needs to be powered in order to function. A set of screws is also included for those with older style cases.

The comprehensive English only, (I hate going through a manual with a zillion languages) well laid out colour user guide should be read prior to proceeding with the installation.
It specifically mentions "Please make sure the hardware is installed before installing the driver". The mentioned driver is on an included CD.

Supported systems are Windows XP/Vista/7/8 (32&64 bit)

My Windows 7 64bit recognised and installed the corresponding drivers in a jiffy.

I have had no problems whatsoever with this USB3 card, and definitely give it the thumbs up. Great buy!

I purchased this card to solve an issue I was having with my motherboard USB sockets, basically on plugging in a USB headset or microphone and trying to configure it, my whole computer would freeze up and become unresponsive.

This arrived on time and and probably the easiest piece of hardware I've ever installed, even for people who have never opened up a computer it should not be much of a problem, this card just slots right into a x1 PCIe slot and uses one SATA power connector to provoid power, the package also contains a molex to SATA so if you lack a spare SATA power connector then you should be ok.

After installing the card, the drivers for it were very easy to install, I opted to go straight to the website for the latest ones, though they do provoid a CD for those without internet access.

Overall a very good buy, saved me spending five times the amount to buy a new motherboard.

DELL Precision 690 16Gb Ram 2 x Quad core, Windows 7 - 64 professional. Needed to expand the USB ports, so tried my trusty old Belikn F5U220 Rev:2.0.9 - Got BSOD and drop outs on connected drives depending which PCI slot I used. Then went down the road of buying a cheap USB 3.0 PCIe card using the VLI Chipset, which kept dropping the drives as well whenever I tried to access them for too long, also gave me BSOD whenever I shut my machine down, depending again which slot it was occupying. Eventually bit the bullet and went for this card after reading the reviews. After installing it I lost my SCSI Drives, so changed slot and have had no problems whatever since. Can't vouch for speed through USB 3.0 as currently don't run any USB 3.0 devices, but I can confirm that it's a stable piece of hardware running under Windows 7 64bit, in the right slot.

Amazingly easy to fit into my HP Pavillon desktop which is about three years old much to my relief. The desktop recognised the Inatech Superspeed 4 in just a few minutes that allowed me to use a USB3 camera card reader to transfer/download JPEG and RAW data very quickly. I used the connectors supplied with the card and a card spare slot already available in the HP. I can fully recommend this produce.

Admittedly, not the most exciting item in the world to review, but considering the choice out there, I had to contribute a few thoughts.
I looked at many similar items and went for this one based on cost and reviews here on Amazon. The item was delivered very quickly and installed very easily.
The pack contains clear instructions and power lead variations that will suit most systems. The build quality is very good and performance as expected...fast.
I was slightly concerned that I was installing in a PCI e slot that was not version 2 as recommended, but version 1 as I have.
I am only using one USB 3 device, but also have connected USB 2 devices, all work fine.
So, all in all, a very good experience. My only question is that if I wanted to instal another of the same to gain more ports, would my system become confused and would they both share the
same driver resources. Any thoughts / comments on that appreciated.
