2.0 out of 5 stars Not really for Dummies 8 May 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I came to this book as a Pagemaker user of some 10 years, forced to upgrade to Indesign as we upgraded all our other software and none of it works with Pagemaker any more. Contrary to its title, I found this book assumes a pretty high level of knowledge of graphic design software and that it wasn't for beginners at all. Like many books of its kind, it teaches you how to do specific things but not how to troubleshoot and find out why something isn't working as it should. I had several fairly basic problems and had to resort to searching for them on Google as they weren't covered in this book. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners or those who need just the basic features that enable you to publish books with this software - which is what I do.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too hard even for a dummy! 30 Mar 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
As far as how to books go this one is quite complex. I have basic knowledge and understanding of Indesign so I thought this guide would be very easy with basic instructions, how very wrong I was.

2.0 out of 5 stars In Design CS3 for Dummies 9 Nov 2010
By J
Format:Paperback
Book written as a narrative rather individual topics to be visited when required. Delivery also took far too long

4.0 out of 5 stars No extra hoopla 5 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
Nice book, even funny. Explains the basic details clearly enough for beginner.
This is not a ID Bible, so there's plenty of more to learn than this book covers
but this will get you started.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not for total beginners 17 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great introduction to In design. In my experience none of the 'for dummies' series are targeted at Dummies. There is an assumption of a certain basic knowledge and common sense so it is not too irritating for myself who is intermediate. The tips and tricks inserts in the margins are very useful. A great starting point, or also useful to confirm what you know and build on it.
