More About the Author

Sierra Cartwright was born in Manchester and raised in Colorado. Moving to the US was nothing like her young imagination had concocted. She expected to see cowboys everywhere, and a covered wagon or two would have been really nice!

Now she writes novels as untamed as the Rockies, while spending a fair amount of time in Texas...where, it turns out, the Rangers don't wear shiny badges (boo!) or carry a six-shooter as she expected. (Can you tell she has a vivid imagination?)

She wrote her first book at age nine, a fan fic of Star Trek at age fifteen, and her first complete novel at age 19. (Her biggest claim to fame is actually of giving William Shatner himself a kiss on the cheek!)

Her own adventure through the turmoil of trust has taught her that love is it the greatest gift. She invites you to take a walk on the wild side...if you dare.

I have read more severe bdsm, but I have to say this Dom is pretty forceful and demanding, always in control, always willing to correct and to discipline. If you prefer an easy Dom, one who's afraid to get a little rough, then you might not like Master Nathaniel. He's going to fist a hand in your hair and make you lower his zipper with your teeth; he's going to make you crawl across the floor and kneel to await his instruction. I loved him. Nathaniel's also a caring Dom, too. Very into aftercare, into looking at the deeper issues, into looking at his sub and gauging what she needs, even those things she's too afraid to ask for.

I liked this heroine, Alani, too, beautiful but different. She's described as petite and sexy, with a well-rounded butt made for spanking, and has long dark hair Nathaniel likes to get his hands into. She's exotic and Hawaiian, and I pictured a graceful and sexy hula girl. She's also a masochist; no pain is too much for her. She works as a professional sub in the bdsm club that Nathaniel owns part of.

Alani is used to play-acting and pretending, fulfilling club members' fantasies and acting out the scenes that turn them on. She's only working at the club to get her pain fix, not really into to the whole D/s thing, but as a professional submissive, she needs to be more, well, submissive. She's too busy trying to top from the bottom. Nathaniel actually catches her in a scene with a club member, rolling her eyes and yawning through it. So, he steps in to re-train her, and he's not one to take any excuses from her. He expects her to obey or else.

Alani isn't a perfect sub, and I liked that about her also.

This is probably my favourite of SC's books, Master Nathaniel is a very consistant dominant who is a bit bowled over by professional sub Alani but is determined to make her his sub, this story follows Alani's reluctant acceptance of her status as a submissive as well her understanding that she is a submissive.

Alani is one tough cookie and throughout you are not sure just how submissive she is as she constantly tries Sir's patience and tests his commitment to training her, he however turns the tables on her and makes her realise that she wants to do anything to please him - thereby admitting submission to him.

It was a good book, I just really got hot with some of the scenes - Nathaniel is a very hot master and as always with SC's characters, they are people whom I would love to meet in real life. Alani is sassy and manipulative whilst Nathaniel is a solid dominant - there is a chink in that armour though.

I have read a few of Sierra's books now but this is my favourite. Nathaniel is hot and everything a good Dom should
be. It's a battle of wills throughout the book. I couldn't put it down.

Hit me, baby, one more time 11 Jun 2012

So, he steps in to re-train her, and he's not one to take any excuses from her. He expects her to obey or else.

Alani isn't a perfect sub, and I liked that about her also. She's very independent, spunky, stubborn, sometimes too stubborn for me, but that just made it more spicy and gave Nathaniel a reason to put her over his knee. It's all very hot, the action very sexual and erotic to me, from the spanking to the crawling, from his calling her a pain slut to the anal play (plenty of anal sex and anal play in this story). Combine all that with a strong-handed Dom who soon gets possessive, and you get a quote like this one: <His woman. His. She brought out his inner caveman. "I'm going to f- you," he said. "I'm going to fill your hot c- and ride you like the little painslut you are."> Man, my kindle almost exploded. Lots of good stuff like that in the story.

It begins as simply re-training a misbehaving sub, which then leads to Nathaniel wanting to play outside the club, a no-strings affair, just scratching each other's itch. Alani wants some hard, exquisite, even brutal pain, and he wants to see if he can control and command her in every way. He sees that she is actually submissive and that she needs a heavy and sure hand to go along with that submission and pain. Soon, he begins to want all of her, her complete surrender. And that's the true appeal of this erotic journey, seeing him master her.

They both end up getting what they want, along with something so much more: love. In the Zone was hot and gave me the D/s action I was craving, with lots of detailed and well-written sex and the demanding but thoughtful kind of Dom I love.

I just hope this is the beginning of a series. I really want to see this couple again, and I definitely want a story for Master AJ and Master Marcus, and Jaron, too.

And P.S. This is an m/f bdsm erotic romance, no m/m or f/f involved. No ménage either.

Finally someone is brave enough to explore the masochist! 25 July 2012
By AlexJouJou - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Alani is a masochist who only "does" submissive to get at the pain. When Master Nathaniel sees her yawning during a scene he decides that she needs to be handled. Since Alani is a professional submissive and he is one of the club owners that proves a bit Complicated.

There were a couple things I really enjoyed about This book. Chief among them is this is one of the few books that gets the feelings of A masochist right. As a masochist I appreciated that. I think most people think masochists somehow don't feel pain the way other people do. Or they think masochists have a high pain tolerance which may be true for some but not all. The way Alani processes pain is very close to the way I feel with it. On one hand it hurts and you feel it as pain and don't want it but on the other hand it releases something in you, let's you process, focus. It is a strange relationship and one that few people get right. The only thing that was a bit off is how fast Alani got to subspace...but that is individual so it theoretically could happen.

Alani took time to win over. She didn't go willingly, he had to work at it. Granted it is fiction so it all gets abbreviated but it felt more like work. More honest.

I also liked that this book did not focus on the club. It was a part of it, a setting, but it did not take on a huge life of its own. It had a more authentic feel that way although there were plenty of cliche's running around as well.

So why no five star? Because I remain unconvinced that Alani really is as submissive as he thinks she is. I think she is a masochist who found a guy for whom she could submit due to the dynamics of that guy. She spent a lot of time in her head convincing herself that she was a sub but her greatest pleasure remains pain. That did not change. The only reason this matters is because he definitely is going for a 24/7 thing...and in the end I just don't buy that working for her long run. It was strange for him as well since he did not appear to have ever had a collared sub.

The beginning of relationships are always sunny when they go right. You do many things you will abandon or hate to do later. I definitely got the feeling Alani was besotted by the first guy who pushed her but for me to believe that it could last the power structure must be clear and Alani had to have been given opportunity to interact with Nathaniel as an equal to express and she really never did when it mattered. He maneuvers her into talking always while she is naked, kneeling, or in an otherwise submissive pose. That affects mindset and I didn't like it. I never felt he saw her as Anything but a submissive masochist. Intellectually I think he sort of did but since there is never anything deeper than their D/s you don't get exploration on it.

So overall I loved much of it. Truly the last quarter was where I had issues because of the way he was interacting. Always an order from him (do this or else!) and I never felt like they had opportunity to talk things out while outside a D/s dynamic. Because of her personality it was hard to believe that this was a functioning dynamic for them and could continue to be so.

Scorching Hot! 29 Jun 2012
By Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
In this scorching hot offering by Sierra Cartwright, Alani is a professional sub in a BDSM Club as well as the club's accountant. While she loves her job, she has gotten bored with pretending to be a sub in the scenes. When Nathanial, one of the club's owners catches her yawning and rolling her eyes, he demands that she be retrained -under his direction.

After a bad experience, Alani has no desire to be either in a full time relationship or in a Dom/sub relationship-she serves as a sub for the pain. But the pain inflicted during the scenes no longer brings her the joy and relief it once did.

Nathanial is a contractor whose job takes him out of the country on a regular basis, and he has no desire for a full time relationship.
But as he takes over Alani's re-training, they both find that what they thought they desired may not be what they really want.

The book contains some heavy duty BDSM scenes and pulls no punches about the pain Alani wants and receives. The characters are well drawn and the emotional connection between them is intense.

In the Zone 3 Sep 2012

I read this book after reading Fifty Shades. I was impressed that there are more books like this that actually have a story behind them. I am an older woman that really enjoyed this reading. I just wish there were more books in this series. I am glad I chose this and hope there are more to come. I tell people you have to be open minded, when reading about Dom's and Sub's. I find it very interesting. Never knew exactly how this lifestyle worked. Curious I guess you can call it. Looking forward to more great Reading, Thanks!!!

Great continuation... 7 Oct 2012

I'll start this off with the statment ... I really like Sierra Cartwright's writing. This book continued along the same style as the previous ones, cool cloth necessary for overheating or have your husband/boyfriend close by .... the only problem that I saw with this book is one I find in most romance/fiction books --- the hero seems to be able to read the heroines mind and "know" what she needs. I don't know about you, but I have trouble reading my own mind to know what I need and my husband often has no clue. I wish there had been more of the realistic communication we would see in real life....that being said, this is fiction and I loved it! This author is amazing and I buy her books based on her name only! I know the story will be great and I won't be able to put it down.
