5.0 out of 5 stars Right on the mark.. 30 Oct 2005
Format:Audio CD
This record feels like it has taken forever to come out, however it's refreshing to report that the wait has been well worth it! The Truant's first album was a whirlwind of blazing metal with tinges of prog thrown in for good measure. However, on this album alot of the fat has been trimmed resulting in a more concise effort (the album is just under 40 mins). The production is absolutely killer too, the riffs sound rich and fat whilst Olly's vocals are strong enough to strip paint. My personal fave would have to be Dirty Vampire Feeding Frenzy (great name eh?) The artwork is also top notch! Get this if you're a fan of modern metal, this band deserve to be massive.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this album 1 Jun 2011

Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I realise this is pretty much too late to write a review of this album thats years old and from a band that have split up, but I was recommended this by a friend a few months ago, bought it on Amazon, and loved it.

It takes a few listens to really get into it, but once you are there is is totally worth the effort. Shame they split up.

I went out and bought their fisrt album...."reprecussions of a..." and it was decent enough, and I am yet to hear the 3rd album " no tears for......"

but this album is excellent from start to finish.

its heavy, emotive, interesting and each song could be 3 songs in one.... which is a good thing for me. Stand outs are The Bloodening, footprints in the thunder and I am exploder....

too late to save the band, but this deserves to be heard. 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply incredible. 26 Feb 2010
Format:Audio CD
This album is all the proof anyone needs to show how talented Johnny Truant are. Everything is spot-on; the production, the vocals, the riffs, the song structures. This is an album that flows brilliantly from start to finish, leaving the listener with a complete sense of awe.

In a scene that was fast becoming full of floppy fringes and no musical credibility, Johnny Truant brought this album out as a welcome breath of fresh air. The songs are intelligently written, balancing heavyness with technicality and melody, creating a truly unique listening experience.

The opening track 'I Love You Even Though You're A Zombie Now' hits you like a smack round the chops, with a blastbeat-ridden intro and vocalist Olly's intense screams. Not a generic breakdown in sight. And, although this may have alienated some of the diehard scene kids, it earns them major credibility from everyone that matters. The songs have atmosphere when it's most needed and any heavy music fan will appreciate their ability to create such a diverse yet definitive sound. There's everything you could ask for. From pumelling heavyness and crazy time signatures, to a beautifully written instrumental entitled 'Vultures', Johnny Truant don't put a foot wrong.

Buy this album, they could just be your new favourite band.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love You Even Though You're A Zombie Now 8 April 2009
Format:Audio CD
I know this review may be years from its realese but i just had to explain that this is the best album JT have made!
These guys had been doing this for ten years i beleive before they split (R.I.P), so many bands will be influenced by them.

If you like Experimental/Noise get the first album 'The Reprucussions Of A Badly Planned Suicide', it's darker and much more experiemental.

This album is more Metalcore than anything, it's got some real good songs on here, (My fav being Throne Vertigo).
Get it if you havn't got it already!!!

Thier new album is much more Hardcore and isn't as good as the previous albums but still it's not bad just no where as good.

I was lucky enough to catch these guys on your just before they're split, they are amazing, go buy this album!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Shout - ssshhh - shout! 26 Oct 2005
By Mr. H TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
It's been over three years since Johnny Truant released their debut album, an album chock full of loud-quiet-loud cliches that screamed generic. So, I'm glad to report that the intervening years have bene put to good use, for this is a very good album.
"In A Library..." lifts their brand of extreme metal to a new level, ably assisted in the producers chair by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, who has applied a sonic battery of tricks in his effort to capture the extremity on tape.
When they're good they're incredibly with the Pantera like "Footsteps In The Thunder" top of the class, while download single "The Bloodening" rages like Nailbomb on speed. "Throne Vertigo" is another classic, where they go for the metalcore crowd with some nu-age dynamics.
It's not going to change the world, and it's not a classic, but it rages hard and they've certainly raised their game. Oh, and I don't know if the finished album spreads itself across 99 tracks like the promo, but if it does prepare yourself for annoyance.
