Product Description

Book Description

All At Sea is the true story of Tim FitzHigham's successful attempt to be the first person in history to row the English Channel in a bath.

Product Description

In The Bath: Conquering the Channel in a Piece of Plumbing is a celebration of the epic absurd, an attempt to explain just how out of hand things can become from a very simple starting point. The book follows the author’s death-defying 200-mile journey in his antique Thomas Crapper bath – not just across the Channel, but around Kent – right up to the tremendous reception and huge media attention which awaited him under Tower Bridge. Tim met the Queen, and his bath now resides in the National Maritime Museum of Great Britain.

I have been to see Tim's Fringe shows in Edinburgh for the last few years and have always admired the eccentric challenges he has set himself from rowing a paperboat down the Thames, living as a knight in a cave, and the legendary crossing of the English Channel in a bath.

This book is his story of the latter. In parts hugely moving, but for the most part a hilarious romp hilghlighting the nonsense of anglo-franco politics, the quirks of the sea and general chaos a sea-going bath can cause.

It's a must read for 2008 and you won't be disappointed. I particular liked the annexes at the end of the book. His cocktail list is pretty spectacular! Enjoy!

Tim is a national treasure in the making.
This is a wonderful book with some absolutely classic quotes in it.
Buy it, read it, laugh and delight at the eccentricity of wonderfully gusty fellow.
