HASH(0x99ee351c) out of 5 stars Fantastic Meaty Historical 24 Jun. 2013
By J. MacLean - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I've been a fan of Deborah Hale since her very first book over a decade ago, and this remains one of my favorites. It was originally published under the title THE CARPETBAGGER'S WIFE and is set around the American Civil War. I am so happy to see that it has been reissued at last, finally available as an ebook. I am re-reading it now, and it is just as wonderful as it was the first time!

HASH(0x9a288558) out of 5 stars Ohhhhhhhh 20 July 2013

I read a lot maybe 6 books a week and this is one of the best books I have ever read and for me that's saying something because I have read some of the best authors in historical romance and western historical, which are the two categories I still indulge in. I just love the hero in this book, he is like every woman's dream man. Such a loving caring man, wow. I will read this author again for sure. There are some authors who are so talented they are like to writing what Josh Groban is to singing lol. Deborah Hale is such an author.

HASH(0x99d4b2b8) out of 5 stars Highly recommended! 22 Jun. 2013

That might just be the my favorite historical cover this year. What's inside was pretty terrific too! Caddie Marsh and Manning Forbes' Civil War romance was wonderful. Highly recommended! And if you're new to Deborah Hale, you'll be thrilled to see her extensive backlist. Her stories offer a depth and emotional resonance that will keep you coming back for more.

HASH(0x99ee85dc) out of 5 stars An All-Time Favorite! 24 Jun. 2013
By Kelly - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I absolutely love this book. The characters are so well drawn and engaging and you feel for them on every page. This book stayed with me long after I read it and remains one of my re-reads whenever I want to be swept away by a story. Deborah Hale has a classic on her hands with this one!

HASH(0x99ed1edc) out of 5 stars In a Stranger's Arms 18 Sept. 2013
By L. Christensen - Published on Amazon.com

This was an okay book. Nothing spectacular but a little different with the reason why Manning was with Caddie. Even though I understand her need for keeping her southern roots, her propriety got old. There wasn't much romance at all and quite honestly, in a month, I probably won't even remember the story.
