A wonderful travel book, written in 1935, and hugely popular at the time. Little remained of St Paul's journey 2000 years ago, but much more in 1935 than is present now.

I thoroughly recommend buying an early edition. The feel of the book, the paper, the smell, all contribute to the subject

The fascination of H V Moton's travel books is that they tell us nearly as much about his era (the 1930s) as the history of the places he visits. How and why did a British writer travel round the Eastern Mediterranean in the 1930s and who did he meet?
The sheer liveliness and readability of Morton is a huge asset. Once one starts reading his books, they are hard to put down.
Much recommended.

An excellent book 16 April 2011
Format:Paperback
I wish I had known about this book earlier. It was recommended to me by a friend prior to a holiday in Syria and Turkey and was enormously valuable. While dwelling on St. Paul's journeys and their effect on the world, it is not a theological treatise, but the story of Morton's travels in Asia Minor and adjacent areas in, as he says, the steps of St. Paul.

It is now 76 years old, and it is very instructive to compare the descriptions of the places he visited to what is found now. I would recommend it to anyone planning to visit Syria, Anatolya, southern Turkey, and the adjacent areas of the Aegean.
