5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive 19 July 2010
Format:Audio CD
I will be honest. Although I enjoyed Durand's album I did not think he was up to the task of replacing the discredited Tiesto. I must admit I enjoyed this compilation far more than I did last years ISOS. I would recommend if you enjoy progressive and melodic trance.

5.0 out of 5 stars ISOS is in good hands 28 July 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I was a little uncertain about buying this CD. I have really enjoyed the Tiesto mixes on ISOS 1-7. Each has been sufficiently different to make up a really interesting collection that is revisited regularly. However, Mr Durand has just made the collection even better - if that is possible. I keep playing this on the ipod. It's not Tiesto, but it is an excellent alternative. Continue the series for as long as you can maintain the high quality, dear DJs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite as good as the Tiesto era 1 Jun 2010
By Alan
Format:Audio CD
I will start by saying that this is a good album. None of the ISoS volumes have been let-downs so far. The first one I listened to was ISoS5, which was stunning. I don't think any of the others have quite reached the heights of that one yet.
Richard Durand, a well-established artist in the trance world, was always likely to be a decent choice, and so it has proved. The one good thing about RD is that he has been ambitious with this song selection - one minute you get a smooth spherical number, followed shortly by a much chunkier housier or trancier number. For that I admire him, as for many like myself, this may be one of the first times you will have listened to a RD compilation with an expectant ear.
However, the fact is simple - whilst the songs are good and there are no bad tracks on either album, none quite reach the heights as songs such as Empty Streets, Everything Matters, Genesis and Helsinki Scorchin' on volume 5 (for example). My favourite tracks on this album are usually the feel good ones, such as The Violet Hour or Something for the Pain. The rest are a little bland in parts, in my opinion. This may not be the fault of RD of course, he can only mix what he deems is an appropriate genre for the ISoS brand.
I recently wrote a scathing review on Tiesto's latest new-songs album Kaleidoscope, but I did make the point that his ISoS series has been excellent. The mixing on each album was, as you would expect, fantastic and I think you can tell that this latest version is not quite up to the same standard. RD was always had big shoes to fill, so perhaps the 3-stars is harsh for this reason. But nevertheless, I feel the quality that Tiesto gave to us is not quite there with this latest album.

5.0 out of 5 stars blackhole at its best 24 Jun 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
After Tiesto going mainstream and dead cheesy , i was concerned if the search of sunrise series would continue . I have followed Tiesto for over ten years and loved all of his albums and mixes . When he left blackhole recording i was genuinly upset . But after his latest offer i soon changed my mind . Richard Durand has totally nailed this album , i love it great for driving , training , partying or just keeping it real .A must for all search of sunrise fans !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Make me smile!! 13 April 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Brief: Produce a mix that showcases where Trance, the Label and the DJ are today. Make it for both a young and older audience and produce it in such a way where it will appeal to the MP3 listener right through to the seasoned audiophile. And if that weren't enough, keep as much of it as possible in-house.
Result: An absolutely sensational piece of music that from the very off-set does just that. Instantly the listener is treated to a frightening level of sound production skills as Richard Durand takes you on a beautifully paced journey through the softer side of modern Trance. Vocals are a plenty but are well spaced through-out the set and whilst the entire mix is built around these magical treats they do not dominate and the listener is kept entertained with a well constructed arrangement of contrasting tracks which are placed side by side but played in such a way where the direction of the set never once changes. Some classic sounds play peek-a-boo with the more experienced listener and whilst the mix is entirely soft and bright it does have some hard edges and little tweaks of darkness which lurk behind the occasional corner and jump out at you every now and then. Disk 2 builds to a slightly heavier mix but continues to stay within the constraints of the brief and features a level of sound production skills that could be envied throughout the world. Again, contrasting tracks play their role as the efforts of all those involved shines through and the entire compilation is signed off with a massive production track, Richard Durand & JES - N.Y.C. and then firmly stamped with Beltek - Par. Oddly it isn't until Bartlett Bros.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Tiesto 5 Nov 2013
Format:MP3 Download|Verified Purchase
ISOS8 continues in a similar vein. The style is different but it is still a quality blend of uplifting trance and mellow tunes. Great to play loud or have on in the back ground.

4.0 out of 5 stars Son of Tiesto 30 Oct 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I was sceptical, but this album is pretty good.
Has a touch of Tiesto about it and does not grate at any point.
Give it a go.
