Product Description

Review

"This is a masterpiece and belongs in the home and library of every person who wishes to evolve using the wosdom of the ages." Deepak Chopra --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

Contrary to the schoolbook notion, the real cradle of civilization may well have been, not Sumer, but India. This book completely revisions ancient history and suggests that by understanding how our ancestors faced their problems of existence, we can find important answers to our own unprecedented crises. The authors cite the latest archaeological, geological, and linguistic evidence to show that the ancient Indians had a highly evolved culture that has influenced the Western world decisively and still has much to teach us today. They find the magnificent sacred text, the Rig-Veda, to be much older than assumed, and they decode the spiritual wisdom hidden in its symbols, metaphors, and myths. They also unravel the astonishing mathematical and astronomical code hidden in the Vedic hymns. "This is a scholarly masterpiece and belongs in the homw and library of every person who wishes to evolve using the wisdom of the ages."--Deepak Chopra, M.D.

The authors present their central arguments for the origins and continuity of the Indic civilization very convincingly and forcefully. This is a well written, well-documented book. This book should be required reading in high schools and colleges across India. I highly recommend this to any students of ancient history. In some sections of the book, however, the authors indulge in unwarranted rose-tinted speculation, e.g. suggesting the Vedas pre-empted modern cosmological and Darwinian theories. Aside from these deviations, the book is a very objective work of historical detective work.

A fascinating book! 12 Jun 1997

Format:Hardcover
This book challenges the traditional view that the Aryans invaded India around 1500 BC and pushed the indigenous population (dark-skinned/dravidians) to the South. This book presents many archaelogical / astronomical/ satellite land image evidence to prove that the Aryans (or so called Indigenous Aryans) have been living in India (atleast) a few millenium before 1500 BC in the Indus-Sarasvati river regions. The arguments presented sound very convincing. Overall, this book is a fascinating book to read.
