Well after purchasing and watching series 1, it was somewhat fortuitous that a few weeks later series 2 was released in the UK. So what did I find when I pressed the start button?

Well the first thing I noticed was that the storylines are much better, don't get me wrong there was nothing wrong with the first series, its just that here it appears more attention to detail was put into the second series. WITSEC have been given a female office clerk whom I presume has been brought in as a foil to Marys abrasive character. However the witty repartee is very female orientated and I think will go over the head of most males. The family (Sister/Mother/Boyfriend) appear to have settled down and aren't as rambunctious as they were in the first series, yes there are still trials and tribulations however on the whole Marys relationship with her kin is a lot smoother. The directors actually digress away from Mary a number of times and allow some of the other characters to fill a few episodes with some entertaining stories.Like the first series action scenes aren't as commonplace as found in other US cop series. Yes they are there, but I suppose as in real life not as often as we are led to believe. Also the female perspective of things is still there. So there are plenty of hugs. Crying (Lots of crying) and a heavy dose of soul searching.

So did I enjoy this second helping of `In Plain sight'. Yup you bet your bottom dollar (Sounds a lot better than bottom pound coin) I did. My only problem is the third series has only just begun over in the States, thus I am going to wait a while in which to continue the adventure.

In Plain Sight is funny and slightly dark in tone, a refreshing change from most TV, though part of the cable revolution of strong female leads, this one stands out for its simple story arcs, real problems, great acting. An amazing talented cast, I recommend this to anyone who enjoys good television, the music also in this season is particularly strong.

I enjoyed season 1 of this US series, but when I reviewed it on here, I hoped for some improvements. Well, I wasn't disappointed. Season 2 continues very quickly on in timescale from the end of season 1. Mary is still coming to terms with what happened to her. The format continues to work with a new story of someone going into Witness Protection and the longer running family stories running alongside. There is more time given to the family plot, which I approve of as it is far more interesting and the pace has really picked up. The missing father story develops nicely, as does Mary's difficult relationship with her mother and sister and the problems with her sister's past. Her on-off relationship with her boyfriend is also dealt with a bit more deeply. My only complaint is that Mary's sister continues to be a little one-dimensional for my liking, although there are occasional flashes of something more and a new love interest for her does help a bit.

I think "In Plain Sight" is one of those series that is going to grow into itself over time, it's almost there. There is just the right mix of action, drama, twists and turns, as well as funny and touching moments. Mary is the character that holds it all together. She has plenty of depth and is well played by the actress. I will definitely stick with it if season 3 comes along. Well worth a watch.

In my opinion this appears to be a very underrated series.
In Plain Sight centres on Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshall based in New Mexico and specialising
in the U.S. witness protection program.
There is a vast number of different people needing protection for various reasons and this gives us a
lot of opportunity for interesting stories to unfold.
As well as the thriller aspect, stopping the bad guys from killing their witnesses, Mary has to deal with their personal issues whilst balancing her home life at the same time.
Mary McCormack plays Shannon as both incredibly tough but also really vulnerable at the same time.
her partner in the service is a Marshall called Marshall Mann (Yes Marshall, Marshall) and is an excellent foil for Mary's biting sarcasm and wit that brings a nice dose of humour to the show.
Try the first series, I bet most people will soon be hooked.

...just a shame that the manufacturers do not yet seem to have made series 3-5 of such a brilliant series available in the UK????

I've only seen the 2nd series of this show which I bought based on reading reviews of my fellow customers, one of whom noted that the 2nd series was a significant improvement over the first. My only significant disappointment is that I'm ready to buy series 3 and it's not for sale yet. This is high quality in every way. On top of excellent stories, acting, photography, the producers were even smart enough to use great looking women. Kudos.

Great DVD set, I did not have the issues I had with Season 1 where the DVD set was faulty.
