Format: Audio CD
When this album was released in 1983, I remember being impressed by the state-of-the art 80s production, with gated snares and a punchier, 'cleaner' sound than the preceding (excellent) "Angst In My Pants". However, time has revealed the songs to be slighter affairs than those on both "Angst" and "Whomp That Sucker". Cool Places is a witty duet with Jane Wiedlin, Popularity is similarly tongue-in-cheek with a synth backing that hints at their Moroder years. "Rockin' Girls" strikes the only real sour note with its anaemic riff and Sparks-by-numbers vocal. All in all, the album is still melodic, with sense of humour to the fore, but I don't find myself going back to this one as often as the other 80s Sparky offerings. It's still better than "Interior Design".
