5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!! 29 Jun 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This single is the first offering from the forthcoming album, "A rush of blood to the head", and there is just one word to describe it, "WOW!!". This single was well worth the wait. It makes a natural progression from the previous releases although in my opinion is far superior as like 'Yellow' it is one of those songs to send shivers down your spine, and yet it is somehow better with far better lyrics, melody and riffs. Like 'Such a rush' from the 'Blue room ep' it has a nice mellow build up to a crashing cresendo before mellowing out again - WOW!

4.0 out of 5 stars Flashback 28 Aug 2002
Format:Audio CD
Coldplay seem to still have all the ingredients that made them so tasty back in 1999. Unfortunately, the contemporary music audience has deemed them the weaklings of rock. I blame the industry for overspinning "Yellow", not the band who made it. In any event, Coldplay seem very aware of our expectations, this single starts off with crisp, pounding drums and cymbals, stark and heavy. Then, once Chris Martin starts his somber and delicate tale, it all comes back in a wave of memory. This is still Coldplay. They are still good. Just don't let them get overplayed, again, for our sakes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiringly beautiful 19 Aug 2002
Format:Audio CD
Amazing. I wasn't a major fan of Coldplay when they released "Parachutes" but when I saw them live my opinion entirely changed. They mezmorised 1000's of people with a breath-taking set of old and new songs and completely stole the show. I know this album will be well worth every penny but I'd buy it on the strength of this single and "The Scientist" alone. Good music, buy it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Their best... 30 Jun 2002
Format:Audio CD
I was fairly disappointed with coldplay's 'Parachutes', but this is very promising. It's easily their best performance, and if the album follows this, it should be very good...the structure is superb and the simplistic riff floats through the heavy drums beautifully..and the vocals are perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Stunning Return 29 Jun 2002
Format:Audio CD
After a while out of the limelight and a fairly turbulent time for Coldplay its great to see them return with the best song of their career. It pulls upon the unrequited love echoing from Jeff Buckleys work while mixing with the melancholic hope found in REM's "Everybody Hurts,".All mixed with Chris Martins original vocal style its one of the most refreshing sounds "N.A.M." has offered since... well since Coldplay released "The Blue Room," e.p.Moreover after finding little enjoyment in acoustic movement as of late I have once again realised that quite does speak oh so loud.Stunning.

2.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelmed 6 Aug 2002
By Ian
Format:Audio CD
The sound of a Coldplay tribute band that left me open mouthed for all the wrong reasons.
Chris Martin can wax lyrical about Jonny Buckland's guitar work as much as he likes, but if he and his band are unwilling to add to the promise of such an asset then I'd really rather they didn't bother at all.
This goes around in circles using one monotonous rhyme after another, until it finally achieves its apparent aim of getting nowhere.
