Product Description

To infinity and back. The endless options of EDM have ever been the object of Orjan Nilsen's affection. Thrilled by diversity, he has spend months of time in the studio, trying to find the perfect blend of house, trance, progressive and everything else that tingles his open mind. The result, an amalgam of years of creativity, is Orjan's promising debut album, 'In My Opinion'. Indulged with music from an early age, he mastered the drums and keyboard at only 9 years old. At the age of 16, as he experienced his first crush on trance music and completely fell in love with rhythmic patterns and melodies, he got his first synthesizer. The Norwegian music lover, reigning from the cold, upper part of the country, soon learned about the magic of working on a pc and started experimenting with that extraordinary grey box. After some unofficial remixes and solo tracks, it was the release of 'Red Woods' in 2005 that turned out to be Orjan's breakthrough. Ever since, no dancefloor is safe to the sounds of the characteristic Norwegian. Summer-hit 'La Guitarra', hammered by the trance elite for months in a row, the rough 'Moving Mojave' and sensitive 'Lovers Lane', keeping up with the ever-throbbing heart of the club society, contagious 'So Long Radio', 'Mjuzik' and the strong and outstanding 'Go Fast!'. All original and different, yet distinctively riding the Nilsen sound. After months of hard work in the studio, Orjan Nilsen proudly presents 'In My Opinion'. Days of experimenting, blending and shaping now come together in an album that is, sounds and represents Orjan. Orjan:"I can't describe it other than being me. The sound you're hearing is me, and how I feel and think. It seems like I have so many things that need to get to the surface, and I'm showing that through my music." 15 jewels of tracks tell the colorful story of musical talent, touching you on the inside with a palette of melody, beats, synths and a whole lot of feeling to glue it together. Whether you're in the mood to party or simply feel like absorbing the album with the volume up at home, 'In My Opinion' will fit all sceneries. Free of parochialism and one-style-fits-all, but crossing boundaries and hitting the right spot at the right time, is what 'In My Opinion' is all about. Orjan:"I just didn't follow any kind of recipe. I've merged so many styles together, made so many new things and I hope it reflects both the past and future, as well as the present."

Ever since hearing the sublime La Guitarra (a track I never get tired of hearing), I've been hoping for an album from Ørjan Nilsen. "In My Opinion" doesn't disappoint.

There are some very good tracks here such as the previously released La Guitarra, So Long Radio and Go Fast! Other stand out tracks include Dominatrix, Mjuzik, Le Tour de Trance, Anywhere but here, Down the Line, While I wait and Nocturnal ending the album perfectly.

The album ranges from the relaxing and chilled to some banging trance tunes. All in all, a very good first album and one I'll be listening to a lot. Can't wait to hear more!

Nothing too heavy not too light just simply outstanding music all the way through.
Mostly light trance with some progressive house. What is best about this album is that it feels like an artists album, a whole package with every thing working together, bar La Guitarra, which the album could easily of done without. You know its an artist album and not just another compilation. If you like Tydi, Tritonal, Josh Gabriel then this is for you.

Fresh & Original 6 July 2011
By Jack Broyles Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I have been listening to 0rjan for several years, since his hit song "La Guitarra" received airplay on A State of Trance and Trance Around the World. During this time I was looking, hoping, and waiting for an Artist CD.

This Disc apparently was a long time in the making-per 0rjan's own notes in the Album Artwork. It was certainly worth the wait!

If you are looking for a DJ mix-move on. This isn't it. Each song stands on its own and there are (GASP!) silent breaks between each song.

However, if you are up for some crazy good, new trance, this is the right place. 0rjan delights with MUCH MORE use of real (as opposed to synthesized) instrumentation and fresh new vocalists. That being said, most songs on the Disc are instrumentals, and great ones at that.

The disc starts off with "The Thunder" sung by Kate Louise Smith. Not sure if she is new or just new to me, but she has a fantastic voice. A great introduction.

The album then opens up a long stretch of instrumentals. Real guitar riffs, slower pace, and an unhurried feel make the disc ALMOST feel like a chill Disc. It certainly isn't though. Every song here is eminently danceable. Or better yet, throw your headphones on and work out :)'

Tracks not to miss include the previously mentioned "La Guitarra", Dominatrix, and Nocturnal. There honestly isn't a bad tune in the bunch. If you can get over this not being a DJ mix, it is one of the best releases of 2011.

From the fleetwood mac-esque vocals and comfortable beat of "the thunder" to the 80's-era redux "So long radio" to the powerfully driving "Down the Line", this album delivers quite well. Congrats Orjan!
