Christopher Lloyd was one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, gardeners of the 20th century. Great Dixter is a mecca for people who like gardens and gardening and this book is for them. It is a collection of articles he wrote for Country Life magazine. He was a funny and sometimes waspish writer...his personality really comes through...and there are nuggets of information about plants, and gardening in general that I find fascinating as well as helpful. Because it is a series of short articles, grouped under seasonal headings, it is easy to dip in and out without losing one's thread. I love it, and have bought copies for some of my gardening friends. It is very reasonably priced, when you consider the cost of some now out-of-print books by Christopher Lloyd, and I'm just wondering whether I should snap up a few more copies while the going's good.
