PEACE

Trying to pin down the sound of Peace is a tricky business. The Birmingham-based four piece, brought together by bonds created by siblings, scrapping and school, have careered from the classroom to Columbia Records in a short period of time and lead singer Harry Koisser reflects that it’s probably the lack of a precise plan that has allowed them to travel so far so fast. ... Product Description

Product Description

Birmingham's Peace release their debut album In Love, featuring live favourites "Higher Than The Sun" and "Delicious". It was produced by Jim Abiss, who also worked on the debut albums by Arctic Monkeys, Florence + The Machine and Adele.

BBC Review

Whether or not you fall in love with Peace depends how much stock you put in originality. The Birmingham four-piece are clearly the sum of their influences, but their debut album brims with such gusto and powerful tunes that it'd take a heart of stone not to weaken in the face of its chutzpah.

One of 2013's biggest indie hopes, Peace have already fired off impressive salvos in last year's Follow Baby single and the Delicious EP – both represented here to greater or lesser extent – and the rest of In Love is more than a match for those calling cards.

Their inspiration is easily pinpointed. This is the Britpop revival 20 years on, with a sprinkle of Summer of Love psychedelia and the odd lope of baggy, pretty much integral building blocks of Britpop anyway. In less-confident hands this would be an unnecessary rehash, but Peace have the belief to equal their songwriting chops.

That's down in no small part to singer Harrison Koisser, a bumptious combination of Mick Jagger and Kula Shaker's Crispian Mills that works against all odds. He can curl his lip with the best of them over the sleazy licks of Toxic, but blisses out like a gap-year mystic on the delicate California Daze, a survivor from that Delicious EP.

The other star is guitarist Doug Castle, whose snaky riffs on opening pair Higher Than the Sun and the remodelled Follow Baby are just irresistible. Peace's collective strength is in this combination of bold guitar and earworm choruses that pepper every track.

The swaying melodies of Float Forever and Sugarstone have maybe heard Oasis's Don't Look Back in Anger once too often, but that's the price of knowing your history. Otherwise Peace take the past and swish it about with a bit of swagger, and the results are just dandy.

It's been a great year for music, and Peace's debut album 'In Love' has been one of my favourite releases.

Granted, it's hardly original, but who cares? - this is just good music. The four members of the band have put together an album with a diverse collection of songs, all with a different style. The overall feel is that of the '90s, but the well written tracks sound fresh and modern, and will appeal to the young generation.

The obvious radio hit 'Lovesick' is one of those songs that will instantly make you happy, 'Follow Baby' is addictive, 'California Daze' is a standout, a very pretty song that is complemented by some nice guitar work and backing vocals, another favourite of mine is the melodic 'Float Forever'.

If you haven't already heard 'In Love' yet, buy it, because it is a faultless debut. I look forward to hearing more from this promising new band in 2014.

I bought this CD a while back after reading about it in the NME, and I can honestly say that it's one of the best albums I've ever listened to. It's worth buying the deluxe edition - the four bonus tracks are great.

You can pick out influences from lots of bands - Oasis, The Stone Roses and Nirvana are probably the main ones, but Peace still manage to sound really fresh, and are a good alternative to modern bands such as Palma Violets and The Vaccines.

The best songs are probably Wraith, Drain, Delicious and Bloodshake, but all 14 songs are amongst the best from the last couple of years.

Peace In Love.

Truly amazing. The song writing skills of the 4 members is a gift. With catchy songs and amazing lyrics it's hard not to sing along. It defiantly worth buying the deluxe over the standard for the 4 extra songs which are simply amazing.

I love the album, my only problem is I don't physically own the album on vinyl because amazon still haven't sent it to me, I ordered it over two months ago with a birthday gift card, you let me amazon and you let yourself down, turn that yellow smile upside down.

the five stars are for the artist and the album because it's not their fault....

...and as for amazon, your stars are just like my vinyl... non-existent

I think In Love is a great debut album from Peace and I'm glad they were able to built positively on their demo tracks but their singles appear to be the best of the album in my opinion. Overall, would recommend.
