Our very favorite children's book

This is our very favorite children's book. My children (and me, too!) are completely captivated by the illustrations. The spread on the last page of the elf family in their cozy tree stump home with snow outside is so beautiful, I wish I could inhabit it.
So absolutely exquisite, I wish that every family could own a copy. It's really that beautiful.

This is a lovely book of pictures and prose. It takes the child through the land of elves starting beneath the ground with elf queen and through the seasons. Children are taken with the pictures of boy, girl and baby elves and sound of the words. Age group would be 3 to 7, 7 and 8 year olds would like to read it aloud themselves.
