Jazzwise, (Duncan Heining), November 2007
(4 stars) There's some fine rockers here like Etheridge's 'Pump Room' and Andersens's title track. Guitar record of the year!
(4 stars) It's not just for guitar buffs - but a raunchy hook and theme-packed conversation between world-class improvisers.
Terrific guitar-led power trio, with Etheridge sounding like everything from Clapton to Terje Rypdal, and bassist Andersen monumental beneath.

CD Description
John Etheridge rightly enjoys a glowing reputation throughout the jazz world and has been described by Pat Metheny as, "one of the best guitarists in the world". He is a prodigiously gifted and creative player whose approach to music can only be described as 'eclectic' as he refuses to accommodate or even acknowledge artificial musical boundaries. His range is well illustrated by his years of touring and recording with the iconic Stephane Grappelli while simultaneously doing likewise with the legendary jazz-fusion group, The Soft Machine. John is equally at home on acoustic and electric guitars and he has played with John Williams, Yehudi Menuhin, Dizzie Gillespie, Herb Ellis, Mundell Lowe, Nigel Kennedy, Pat Metheny, Birelli Lagrene, Barney Kessel, and countless others. "In House" was recorded live at the Pizza Express Jazz Club, London on 13 and 14 January, 2007. In addition to John Etheridge on guitars, it features two leading European jazz musicians, the Norwegian bassist Arild Andersen and the British drummer John Marshall. They perform a set of ten originals which showcase Etheridge's prodigious talents as a composer (four tracks), plus five penned by Andersen and one by Marshall. Personnel: John Etheridge (guitars), Arild Andersen (double bass), John Marshall (drums)
