Book Description

Oct 2010

The loss of a pet through death is not the end but only the beginning. A special garden cared for by a loving angel awaits those creatures who pass over. There they play in peace and without fear, forever loved by this special being.

About the Author: Nick L. Sacco started writing as a journalist for his high school paper in the small town of Cuba, Missouri. After graduation and a stint in the United States Marine Corps he continued as a contributing writer for newspaper and magazines plus worked as a radio disc jockey. Nick's writing would eventually go on an extended sabbatical while he worked as a police motorcycle officer in Kansas City, Missouri, retiring in 2004. Through his wife Alisa's work with Kansas City Siamese Rescue, Nick came into contact with hundreds of rescued cats and kittens. While no longer an animal rescue volunteer, Nick shares his home with a handful of beautiful cats and one overweight Cocker Spaniel, Buddy, who thinks he is a cat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Are there animals in heaven? 10 Oct 2010
By writeronthego - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
If the question is are there animals in Heaven, the answer according to author Nick Sacco is yes. His book deals with his and his wife's experiences with rescue cats (and sometime dogs) and his visions of an angel who makes a home for them in a special heavenly garden until they can be reunited with their special owners.

The book actually starts with Sacco's experience as a small child losing his first pet, a dog named Lucky. Then experiences he and his wife, who was a nurse, spent with some of their rescue pets and their quirky personalities are chronicled by the ex-marine and motorcycle cop. Although the book deals with the struggle and loss of some of these pets, the overall story is one of hope and a theme of being reunited with our pets in Heaven. There is also some humor such as when he tells of the high tech litter box that became an amusement ride for one kitten and an entertainment for their other cats.

Sacco also writes of his time with his wife when she was diagnosed with cancer and the support that they received from friends and family and decisions that had to be made.

The book is an easy read, but one with a spiritual side that promotes contemplation of the afterlife. It would make a good gift for animal lovers and might be appropriate for older children dealing with the loss of a pet or what life is like after life on earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you have ever loved a pet..... 6 Oct 2010

If you have ever loved and lost a pet, this is a great book for you. I have always said if God did not allow animals in heaven, I didn't want to go. In Mr. Sacco's first book, he answers and explains with sensitivity and clarity that my prayers will be answered. I highly recommend this book!
5.0 out of 5 stars A sad, but sweet and comforting little book 15 Oct 2012

I cried alot reading this book, about all the kitties, but especially Joleen, the mama cat, and Alisa Sacco, the author's wife, who dies of breast cancer. But Mrs.Sacco's love for cats, and all animals, lives on through her husband, and this book. And it is comforting to know that there is a Heaven not just for humans, but animals, too, watched over by the Creator and special angels like Sarah.
