4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent CD - but not the 'ultimate' 29 Nov 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I am assuming you know who LBM are and in fact, that you think they're pretty exciting and talented. If you are not convinced about how good they are, I urge you to buy this CD or The Ultimate Collection!

This CD is wonderful as a collection of some of LBM's best songs. However, I would suggest that you buy The Ultimate Collection which has 2 CDs, including, I think *all* of the tracks here, alongside many more - you can never have too many LBM tracks!

In short, this is good, but a shorter and therefore less amazing collection than the Ultimate Collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars GORGEOUS AFRICAN HARMONIES - WORLD MUSIC LOVER ALERT! 29 Jan 2006
By Bacchus - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The chant Shosholoza has haunted me since viewing a performance in the movie Dingaka many many years ago. I was thrilled to find it included here (and also on the equally enjoyable Gumboots soundtrack CD) and it's just as inspiring as I remembered it. Better still, every track is enjoyable. I've been disappointed by other excursions into World Music, but this is a pleasure through and through. The African language tracks are very soothing in a vibrant upbeat way, and the English language cuts I'll Take You There, Oh Happy Day, etc are very nicely done. If you like World Music but are unfamiliar with this group, give it a try. I took a chance on this, and also on Classic Tracks by the same group, and both are outstanding. I look forward to collecting the rest of their ouevre, as fast as my budget will allow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful South Africa 8 Mar 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This CD combines South African beat and language with jazzy and moody melody. Ladysmith hits it right off with "Once in a Blue Moon" and keeps you humming along with "Shosholoza" and "O Happy Day". This music is a delight to listen to and gives the listener a picture of the beauty of South Africa and its people.
