Product Description

Honor Harrington has survived ship-to-ship combat, assassins, political vendettas, and duels. But this time, Honor and her crew, ambushed and captured, are aboard an enemy ship, bound for a prison planet aptly named "Hell" - and her scheduled execution.

Yet the one lesson Honor has never learned is how to give up. She and her people are going home - even if it means conquering hell to get there!

A Note from Author David Weber
There's been some confusion - not to say, um, energetic debate, readers and fans being readers and fans - about the correct pronunciation of "Manticoran." The truth, alas, is that a stitch was dropped. An error occurred. A mistake was made... and it wasn't Audible's fault. It was mine. Before Audible recorded the very first Honor Harrington book, narrator Allyson Johnson and I not only corresponded by e-mail but actually spoke to one another by phone. She wanted to make absolutely certain she had the correct pronunciations for names, places, star nations, etc., and I tried to make certain all of her questions were answered. And so they were. Unfortunately, at some point in the process, I replied to one of her e-mails by telling her that "Man-ti-core-ahn" was pronounced "Man-tik-er-ahn." Exactly how this happened is more than I can say at this point, except to blushingly disclose that the original e-mail remains intact, confirming to all the world that it was, indeed, my fault. I can ascribe it only to a temporary mental hiccup on my part and crave your forgiveness. If, however, you must blame someone for the mix-up, that someone should be me and not Audible, who have done everything they could to get it right.

This was my least favorite of the Honor Harrington series. The characters were even more cardboard in depth than previous novels.

Someone else's review said "everyone that is good is good and everyone that is bad is bad". I agree completely.

Now, I like the Harrington series, but maybe more for the combat scenes than I had realized (which were very few in this book).

In Enemy Hands 10 Feb 2004

Format:Mass Market Paperback
The Harrington saga continues. Of course, the Peeps are still out to win the war that never ends. The create devious plots that challenge Manticore to the utmost. Ms. Harrington is drafted into service again, though her duties as Steadholder are more than enough for one person to deal with. Because of her extreme experiences, the bond between Honor and Nimitz are even stronger, and Honor is constantly fed the feelings of others. Through this she discovers that Earl Hamish Alexander is strongly attracted to her. This proves too much for Ms. Harrington and she uses the opportunity to take command of her new squadron.

Though all other ships are saved, the one that Ms. Harrington is on is captured and Honor is now "In Enemy Hands". Cordelia Ransom, the Peeps PR person, plays this for all it's worth. But keeping Honor and her friends captured might not be as easy as Ransom thinks.

I've enjoyed all of the Harrington books thus far, and this is no exception.

Very good book in the Honor Harrington series. As it says in the blurb on the cover, this one ends up with a fight she DOESN'T win (a refreshing change). I would buy this book together with the next in the series (Echoes of Honor) as when you've finished it, you won't be able to wait to find out what happens next!

On the whole it is a good space opera.
It is a good space opera and it keeps the Honor Harrington storyline going. I hope that more of these books will be released.
