About the Author

R.H.Bissell (Rick) was born in Montreal Quebec and except for a three year stint living and working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia accompanied by his spouse and son during the early 1980's has spent his entire career residing in Toronto and London Ontario, Canada employed by Nortel and Bell Canada. While stationed in Saudi Arabia, Rick along with his family travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, as well as North America. After retiring from Bell Canada in 1996 Rick worked as a Telecommunications Regulatory Witness appearing before State Regulatory bodies across the U.S.A on behalf of AT&T and MCI. Rick's cruise ship experience includes 31 cruises for total of 285 nights on numerous cruise lines including Celebrity Cruises®, Royal Caribbean®, Princess®, Disney Cruise Lines®, etc., with itineraries bringing him and his lovely wife to Ports of Call in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Panama Canal, Hawaii, Northern Europe and Russia, as well as Transatlantic cruising. He has cruised with Celebrity Cruises® 16 times. Over the past four years 10 of those cruises were on the latest Solstice® Class ships for a total of 107 nights making him an authority on this particular class of ship. His spouse retired as a travel agent at a large land based travel agency in 2003. Rick Bissell considers the new Celebrity Solstice Class Ships to be one of the best large mainstream ships cruising the high seas today and believes that by the end of his book so will all readers!

The writer has this really irritating and pretentious way of referring to themselves as "this author" and "your author" which just got on my nerves as I continued to read.

Purchased 3 copies of this book because I am schedule to sail a Solstice Class ship during 2015 with my extended family. However, please note that if you are travelling or considering a suite, the author has no experience of it. You would learn more by joining the website Cruise Critic and there is no cost to do that.

VERY INFORMATIVE! 3 Jun 2014

Have gone on a few cruises, butnever sailed with Celebrity before. We. have a Celebrity cruise booked for March 2015 aboard the Constellation (a Celebrity "Solsticized" ship). This book was a very easy, quick read and I think it covered all the bases. The Kindle addition worked on my ipad and I plan on taking it on board for reference. Great little ebook! Will look for the same author for our next travel book.

I found the book very informative. It is always good to know ahead of time the many hints that the author has shared with us. I have only been on two cruises but I wil definitely use this book as my bible when booking any cruises in the future

Everything You Need to Know 23 July 2013

We are looking forward to our 14 day Southern Caribbean cruise in early 2014 on the Celebrity Eclipse.
Searching the web for additional information on the Eclipse I happened across Rick Bissell’s book and it was just what we were looking for.
Written from personal experiences it provides all you need to know from booking to disembarkation & everything in between. Many ways to save money and maximize your cruising experience.
Extremely informative, an excellent read and would recommend to anyone who is considering a Celebrity Cruise.
Not a bad look into crusing 10 Mar 2014

But it does cover more than a few of the old facts, which so some readers could very well be new facts. After years of success the industry is starting to change and with cabins open no any book would be hard pressed to keep up with the new direction it is headed.
