Product Description

Review

This volume is divided into 17 chapters dealing with all aspects of the cars. It is very well illustrated with mostly colour photographs and the author goes into great detail ... --Club Torque

I would recommend it to anyone who is interested, not only in modifying their TR, but in understanding just what possibilities exist and where there may be opportunities to make small improvements when they come to replace worn out components. --TR Register, New Zealand

Concentrating solely on four-cylinder TRs, this is as comprehensive a tuning manual as you're ever likely to find. --Octane

About the Author

Aircraft were Roger William's first love so he joined the de Havilland Aircraft Company after leaving school, but quickly added motor cars to his list of prime interests. He completed his apprenticeship and studies, and built two Ford-based 'specials' before family and career interests took pride of place. However in 1986 he started his own consultancy business, which allowed him to restore numerous MGBs, a Triumph TR6 and a Triumph Stag, and to write two MGB-related books. He retired in 2000 and has since written three Triumph TR restoration books as well as the MGB Auto-Doc?.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best compilation of ideas in years! 29 Aug 2006
By Alan Myers - Published on Amazon.com
Anyone working on or even thinking about tuning, tweaking and improving their 4-cylinder TR needs to read this book! It's the best overview yet. It nicely complements the restoration books by Williams and Piggott, and the Competition manuals by Kastner, and the old tuning manual by Vizard.

I would like to see more, larger and better illustrations, some are unclear. There are a few inaccuracies, or perhaps it would be more proper to say a few "disputable" statements of fact. Still, there is a wealth of useful and detailed info that a TR enthusiast simply won't find elsewhere.

Hopefully for his next edition Williams will make an extended visit to the U.S., interview enthusiasts, vendors, manufacturers, tuners and historical figures here, and then include what he finds. After all, the vast majority of TRs were exported to the U.S., making it a far larger marketplace for his book than his native England!

Good book for those wanting to keep their Triumph running well. Lots of detail on how to repair and inspect the various parts of this simply built car.
