4.0 out of 5 stars Highly Informative 17 Mar 2004

This book goes beyond casual reading, and reveals the authors as truly knowledgable. It goes a lot deeper than what the average reader might expect, but this is not a criticism, as we rarely find more than what we bargained for these days. This is not a diet book, although there are plenty of advice on how to eat healthier. If you want to read about your digestive system, you cannot go wrong by reading this.

The book works through the basics in a simple and easy manner that I can understand and gives pointers as to where to look next if you're trying to solve a specific problem.

It also helps if your looking to change your diet and progress to other of his books that deal with foods and menus.

3.0 out of 5 stars Extremely basic 29 Jan 2012
By J. Kirk
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you know nothing about digestion or nutrition, want an easy-to-read, concise overview, and find you struggle a bit with books on the topic of science, this is probably the book for you. For the price it seems reasonable, and can be read in a single session without breaking much of a sweat.

If you've read any other books on the subject, you'll likely find this too lightweight and of little value. There was the occasional fact that was new to me, but I found the other reviewers opinion that it's much like a pamphlet from your doctor's surgery to be quite accurate.

Other, more detailed books like Digestive Wellness are quoted in the pages here, and it made me think I'd have been better off buying those books instead and getting the original account in full detail.

If you’re vegetarian it’s best to choose a digestive enzyme supplement that provides amylase, protease and lipase. If you’re not, pancreatin is a safe bet. "e;
