This is a delightful spoof of prisoner-of war films like the wooden horse, every stereotype is lovingly lampooned.
One prisoner, Everett (Stanley Baxter) insists that a tunnel is the best way to escape, the newly arrived prisoner, Sir Ernest Pease (James Robertson Justice) who is working with the undercover name of Lieutenant Farrow, is wrongly suspected of being a spy in their midst, and after proving his innocence, Farrow insists his method of escape will be successful.
Also a host of familiar faces including Leslie Phillips, Jeremy Lloyd, Richard Wattis, Norman Bird, all contribute to this great little comedy, films like this were made for a cosy rainy afternoon.
