Synopsis

This work contains two powerful 2 hour talks by the world's leading social critic. In "Imperial Grand Strategy", a lecture given at the University of Manchester, Chomsky takes on the invasion and occupation of Iraq, laying waste to the US government's justifications. 'The Assault on Freedom and Democracy', delivered at Merrimack College, moves from broad geo-political concerns to the sort of authoritarian societies needed for such imperial strategies to work. The DVD ends with 'Questions About Anarchism', a 45 minute interview in which Chomsky discusses the anarchist principles that have guided him since he was a teenager.

I have to admit that the video quality wasn't up to scratch and the audio left a little to be desired, but the content was good.

Chomsky talks about the goals of the elite political forces at work in the world (namely the USA/military industrial complex), also he talks about how the press is guided by the same power like a shepherd leading it's flock, how education is suppressed rendering most of the available information on this whole subject hard to come by let alone understand. Mainly he explains how the powers that be are aiming to control the world, and that all those who are disobedient to them are dealt with swiftly and aggressively.

It's not all gloom and doom though, Chomsky explains that people have made leaps and bounds over the last few decades with regard to human rights movements and anti-war groups and that this is a fight that we should all get behind before it's too late.

I seriously recommend that everyone with the capacity to understand this subject pay attention to Mr Chomsky.

A simply outstanding collection of remarkable ideals and principles from Noam Chomsky's accomplished and respected works 7 July 2006
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
Imperial Grand Strategy: The Conquest Of Iraq And The Assault On Democracy from Noam Chomsky is a provocative collection of a complete and informative collection of two powerful lectures and a forty-five minute interview with Chomsky himself on the political perspectives and paradigm-altering concepts of history and the ideological constructs of the great mind, Imperial Grand Strategy offers Noam Chomsky's personal comprehension of the philosopher, as well as an endlessly fascinating grasp of the political and societal constructs which are fueling the war from America as well as the U.S.'s disgraceful history of manifest-destiny in democracy creation abroad. Imperial Grand Strategy is recommended as a simply outstanding collection of remarkable ideals and principles from Noam Chomsky's accomplished and respected works.

Chomsky: unparalled. 13 Jun 2008
By Nabupolasar Alves Feitosa - Published on Amazon.com
Noam Chomsky shows once again his lucidity concerning the affairs related to the U.S. foreign policy. And, even being in England, he criticizes Tony Blair. Chomsky's broad understanding of the opression of the people in the third world makes him a true humanist compareble to Thomas More. No wonder he is the most important intellectual alive.
