This is poetry about what it is to see and feel more passion than anyone else around you. There is a sense of frustration that does not exist in his earlier work but the same themes of love, and missing love are painfully felt. This is not introspective or wimpy however, one feels the poet as a liver of life to the full - even when it is painful. Some of the poems lack the fire of the early work - nothing is as powerful as THE BEAR - but as we all grow older his vision of life as it is is still touches heartstrings.
