Product Description
Imodium Plus is used to control the symptoms of acute diarrhoea of any origin and relieves the symptoms associated with trapped wind including abdominal discomfort, bloating and cramps. Loperamide treats acute diarrhoea by slowing the passage of food through the digestive system and improving re-absorption of water and minerals from the intestinal contents. Simethicone is an anti-foaming agent and disperses trapped gas in the stomach and intestines to relieve abdominal discomfort, cramps and bloating that it causes. Before taking Imodium Plus tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Loperamide, Simethicone or any other ingredient in this product, you have blood in your bowel motions or a high fever, you suffer from ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous colitis, you are dehydrated by fluid loss caused by diarrhoea, you are or may be pregnant or are breastfeeding, you have or have had poor liver function. Most people may take Imodium Plus with no problems, however it may not suit everyone. Occasionally Loperamide alone has been associated with abdominal cramps (stomach ache) and distension (swelling). Other side effects observed with Loperamide are skin rashes including urticaria (nettle rash or hives), nausea, vomiting, constipation, tiredness, drowsiness, dizziness, and dry mouth. With Imodium Plus, abnormal taste perception, nausea, dizziness, headache and constipation have been reported. Paralytic ileus (inability of the muscles of the small intestine to move its contents along) has been reported rarely. If you notice these or any other unusual effects you should tell your doctor or pharmacist. Warnings After starting to use Imodium Plus: If your symptoms get worse or are no better in 48 hours, then consult your doctor. If you accidentally take too much medicine you should consult your doctor or telephone your local hospital for advice. Do not give to children under the age of 12 years old. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
