This so called 'film' manages to fail on every level, including those previously unknown to exist. Its plot is weak, the acting is formulaic and predictable, as are the special effects. A poor attempt to replicate the style of 300. It deserves no stars. Even the lighting is so bad one can almost, but not quite, see nothing throughout the film. Had this film been 10 minutes long it still would have dragged.

Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land.

Mad with power, King Hyperion has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.

Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge.

In the king's hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods.

But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man's conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion, until a peasant named Theseus comes forth as their only hope.

Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes.

As you would expect from an artist such as Tarsem Singh (a director who extends his name by one word each movie), the film is beautiful to look at. And in one instance, I was expecting something more arty than 300, the film it's destined to be compared to.

Then we meet the characters and it's back to basics really.

I cannot fault the acting, it's brilliant and Cavill and Rourke seem to be having a blast, and the support too is spot on.

It's just that in between all the psychedelic images we see on scree, there is dialogue so clunky and inane, it's very hard to swallow.

The fight scenes are okay, but it's nothing you haven't seen before, and the basic story is something straight out of Harry Hamlins loin cloth.

But thanks to a tremendous turn from Rourke and some of the years finest imagery, Immortals is one of those films you can just sit back, and go with it.

And the 3D doesn't hurt either, it really shows that in the right hands, 3D could be something wonderful, and not a gimmick.

A truly horrid mess of a movie with no substance, no plot and no depth to the characters they serve up.
This is the type of movie that kills a genre that movies like 300 and Gladiator created.
The actors gave hollow, amateurish performances, the over stylised production falls flat on it's face (even in 3D) and the plot seems like it formulated by a bunch of movie execs.
Believe me, you will want to give this movie a miss.
It's got nothing original or interesting to offer.

More horrible make-believe rubbish and poorly executed, with no discernible plot. I'm glad this was included in my Prime membership, because now I don't feel too bad about 'only' losing two hours of my life to it. The other thing is that I'm glad I didn't give up just after the beginning, because now I am qualified to say what a waste of time it is. Basically, it is just gratuitous violence and stupidity from start to finish. Even the special effects look like they were made by students. I wish I could have given it half a star.

The myth of Thyseas promised for an epic journey but failed to deliver.
Disjointed scenes covered by a mist of darkness means half the time you're not sure what's going on...
What's worse is that with no proper plot in place the whole thing is all over the place and despite some big names, the acting is very poor.

Leaves you to wonder how this ever got to the cinemas...

After about 20 minutes I am not sure I can be bothered to finish this. It looks like it is modelled on the Lord of the RIngs. Theseus (Frodo) sets out to find the Epirus Bow (the ring) before the King Hyperion (Sauron) gets it. So far it's dark and sepia-ish all the time. I guess the director has never been to Greece and seen the light there.. The epirus bow appears to be a Hollywood addition to the Greek Myths. I wait to see if Frodo (sorry Theseus) casts it into a volcano at the end.

Maybe at 51 years of age I'm getting a little old for this type of film but as I've seen hundreds of films better than this one I feel I have n right to an opinion. Boring, badly-acted tosh. I can't see how any of the actors kept a straight face or took their parts even semi-seriously. Save you money and two hours of your life by not bothering with this disaster!

This has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and one of only a few I have switched off half way thru! Very disappointing and I would not recommend this to anyone!
