Immanuel's Veins is a story of deep passion, of love vs hate, of dark and light and a thousand more things both terrible and awe inspiring, its is the love story of Toma and Lucine yes and Duke Vlad who seeks to steal Lucine's affection, but it is also the story of Christ and his Bride the Church and of lucifer than seeks to steal our love, set to the fantastical backdrop of 18th century Moldavia, a world of intrigue and scandel, a world where creatures of the night roam unchecked... until now.
Because the battle for the heart is always violently opposed. For those desperate to drink deep from this fountain of life, enter.
My Opinion
Immanuel's Veins has to be one of the most powerful books I have read in recent memory, disturbingly accurate portrayal of evils desire to steal our love, a love that rightly belongs to our Saviour (Jesus Christ), it is also the story of passion so deep, of love so undying and selfless, a love where blood willingly to redeem the object of such great love, a tale of evil so vile it seeks to destroy everything and anything it can to ensure it steals the love of the Bride (Church).
I found the book impacted my life in a very profound way, while I am convinced Vlad does not roam the Earth, nor his coven inhabit the mountains. I am just as certain his kind exist, twisted evil souls who seek to claim away true love & God fearing compassion and make villains of heroes that display that love, yet just as Immanuel's Veins shows us there is a Blood so strong, so pure and so powerful no manner of darkness can withstand its power, for any of those who may read this and find yourselves drowning in darkness, remember there is always a way out, even when human patience and love falters there is always a Saviour in Christ our Lord.
Christian View
Immanuel's Veins is literally drenched in references to the blood of Christ, the love of God, the selfless sacrifice of our Saviour, the power of that blood and sacrifice over the powers of the enemy.
Word of Caution.
Immanuel's Veins is at points very graphic and several points which contain a sexual overtone, including sex crazed vampires, while no instance of sex is witnessed or described it is several times eluded to, the same applies to a few scenes of nudity, which while not described overly are still present.
In closing Ted Dekker Himself sums it up best
"This story is for everyone--but not everyone is for this story."
