Product Description

Stumbling in the dark of an unfinished tomb beneath the sands of Saqqara, Tim Hope discovers a doorway that opens into ancient Egypt, a time before the Sphinx, before the great pyramids of Giza, and long before the loss of his beloved Addy.

Hoping to forget his past, Tim immerses himself in the ancient world and soon learns that two other Americans have preceded him through the time portal. While searching for them Tim finds himself feeling at home in the simpler, more immediate land and irresistibly attracted to the delicate Meryt, a wbt-priestess for the god Re.

As he learns more about King Djoser and the seven-year famine that has gripped Egypt, Tim discovers that his fate, the hopes of the two Americans and the future of Egypt rest in the hands of the legendary Imhotep, master architect of the Step Pyramid, renowned physician and intimate advisor to King Djoser.

Epic Read 6 Nov 2011
By Booklover TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book and it was a real bargain at only 86p. The book is HUGE and I glad that it was on Kindle! When I saw how many locations there were (nearly 14000) I was worried that the book would be a bit long winded. Although, in my opinion, there were parts that could have benefitted from a bit of a trim, the story generally flowed very well.

The concept of the story is great - stepping into an ancient tomb and ending up 5000 years in the past and the descriptions and details of Ancient egyptian life were very detailed and well researched. I am not entirely sure that we needed the characters of Diane and Brian as their story seemed a little superfluous at times.

If you are a fan of 'time slip' stories (Diana Gabaldon, Susanna Kearsley etc) then this is a must.

This is one of the best books I have read. Whimsy but brilliant. Didn't want to put it down and as I have just finished it I am trying to find a book in the same vein by the author, but nothing!! Terrific read

Enjoyable romp 26 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
An enjoyable light romp which I read while on holiday in Egypt to give me a feel for ancient Egypt (just a little). Fun to read, an interesting story idea and well paced with enough factual background to make it "useful" for those wanting a taste of the history.

Open the False Door - and go in!
`Imhotep' by Jerry Dubs is an excellent Historical fantasy - `fantasy' because the basic plot is ridiculous but `historical' because it exhibits considerable historical research. Read more

Great suspense with a twist
You start the story with a question and suspicion and end in a different era in a well thought out chase with ideas as to twists to historic facts.
