20 years of erotic ideas and enjoyment 14 Dec 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I bought the original publication in 1976. It captured my imagination more than any book I have read since. It is much lighter than what Anne Rice has written and safer than Topping From Below.. It helps define how and why women would buy into the whole Gorian idea. There are many suggestions of ways to live and play in a sane and fun way.. Excellent section on garments, bondage, and how to create a whole set of worlds for just the two partners that make life more interesting and the bedroom a playground that can stay forever new and exciting. If your partner isn't sure this is the way they want to go, try sharing it with them. You both maybe surprised at the fun that you hadn't thought of before. No one will like all the scenes suggested, but pick and choose what is right for both of you.

John Norman's most amusing book. 23 Oct 1997
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
John Norman's Gor series is what he's best known for, but this book is a must for anyone into 'bedroom games.' It can be a little pendantic - JN is not the best of writers tho he's certainly not the worst by any means, he's understandable and you know what he means, you might just have a bit of a hard time swallowing it. Anyone who's read his Gor books should get a copy of this one, it lightens up the mood and makes it clear that Gor is his fantasy, if you don't like it, he's written 50 some odd fantasies in this book to play with, some incredibly funny, some vaugely offensive, and some just confusing, but his ideas and commentary, whether you agree or not, are fun to read and talk about. He can be pretty fun when he gets on a roll. Heavy bondage and some sadism and humiliation - not for fuzzy bunny people.

Fantasy vs Reality 31 July 2010
By Kade - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
In reading the 7 reviews above, I find it amusing that some have trouble separating their fantasy life from their real life. This book is about enhancing one's sexual experiences with a rich imaginative fantasy life. Some, mired in and comfortable with routine and sameness, will find John Norman's mostly male dominated fantasies uncomfortable even offensive. But whether you wish to admit it about yourself or not, all of us, regardless of gender have both dominant and submissive facets of the whole personage that is YOU. John Norman, despite the male dominated Gor series, credibly delves into both of those facets of himself, in that series and in this book.

Enjoyment of this type exploration of one's self requires: the ability of introspection, courage to experiment, inate curousity, and a well developed imagination. I enjoy reading John Norman as an escape from the types of "slavery modern society inflicts" on all of us. (a little of Norman's premise).

If more explanation than that is necessary, you will never understand. Don't buy the book.
If curious, buy it. Enough said.
