Product Description

The double Grammy winning Imaginary Day album, released in 1997, was the final part of a triptych of albums from legendary Fusion outfit the Pat Metheny Group. Filmed live at the Mountain Winery, Saratoga, California in July 1998, this DVD captures the group on the tour in support of that album. The set features most of the Imaginary Day tracks along with classic pieces from earlier in their career.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! 1 Oct 2011

Fantastic performance of their great CD "Imaginary Day". I do definitely not agree that this represents "some of the worst camera work ever..." as the other reviewer in here and "wrong camera angels" is just a matter of taste in this case, so don't get discouraged :o)

On the other hand it is probably not the finest production of footage representing a concert available, but there is nothing wrong with it as such and generally it is an all over good sound and the camera angels, filmed a lot from the side and above of the stage, but still very close up, adds a different perspective. BUT first of all; the music speaks for itself and here you don't miss out on anything... This album really opened my eyes to Pat Metheny Group as they are really crossing boundaries here stylistic and the playing is, as expected, empeccable and very inspired.

Everybody should get a copy of this great music/DVD - because here you not only gets sublime playing and musicality, but also real genuine depth and lots of emotion.

3.0 out of 5 stars FAULTY DVD 6 Jun 2012

This is the 2nd time I've bought this DVD (the 1st was from HMV) only find that the last few tracks aren't playable. Weird. Musically-speaking,it's a great buy and I still enjoy the tracks I CAN play. I'm now onto Pat's Live Speaking Of Now DVD which is a much better concert and is produced to a higher standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars PAT METHENY AT HIS BEST 5 July 2011
By DAVE M
If you want an introduction to this world-class virtuoso, this DVD will exemplify the far reaching attributes of this genius - from his semi-acoustic 50+ string guitar opening to hard rock via jazz rock fusion played at frenetic speed. The reproduction is excellent. Great support from his everpresent keyboards guru Lyle Mays. Great value for money.
