Germany released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital 5.1 ), German ( Dolby Digital 5.1 ), German ( Subtitles ), WIDESCREEN (2.35:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Anamorphic Widescreen, Interactive Menu, Making Of, Music Video, Photo Gallery, Scene Access, Trailer(s), SYNOPSIS: Imaginaerum tells the story of an elderly composer, Tom, who suffers from severe dementia. As he has had the disease for years and has regressed into childhood, he remembers practically nothing from his adult life. His music, friends, all his past including the memory of his daughter are a blur in his fragile mind. All he has left is the imagination of a ten year old boy. As he drifts away into coma, it seems impossible to get back what he has lost. Or is it? The film is a journey between two different dimensions. Tom travels through his imaginary world seeking answers and finding memories, while his daughter, Gem, tries to recover the bond she had once shared with her father in the real world. As they have become more and more distant from each other over the years, and as theres even greater obstacles separating them now Toms coma and his imminent death Gems project feels doomed to failure. However, through Toms darkest secrets, Gem discovers the path she must follow in order to find her father again. There are some questions we must ask ourselves before entering the world of Imaginaerum. What is most important in life? Can the power of memories protect us during our last moments? Will our imagination help us find the spark of life in the deepest darkness? Can we still find love after bitter forgiveness? ...Imaginaerum

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent For Nightwish Fans 21 May 2014
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
An excellent film for Nightwish fans, with a top soundtrack and wonderful visuals, especially in the Blu-Ray version. Only thing stopping it getting 5 stars is a plot which sometimes loses itself. Otherwise, an excellent purchase. Also, for any who may have issues, the box may be in German, but there is English audio on the disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful and moving masterpiece 2 Feb 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This film was always going to be preaching to the converted, I am a devoted Nightwish fan and have been longing to see this film since I first became aware of it. It managed to surpass my expectations and provide a film that is entertaining, emotional, haunting and poignant.

Without delving too far into the plot it looks at themes of family estrangement, trauma and grief through the imagination of the protagonist. It is a beautifully filmed production that clearly doesn't have the budget of many better know films but uses it to it's best. The special effects are more then up to the task and never break the immersion into it's fantasy.

This is not just a Nightwish vanity project it is a wonderful story that needed to be told. If you enjoy works of dark fantasy then you will enjoy this, if you simply enjoy getting lost in a flight of the fantastic you will enjoy it too. This film will move you and I hope it can get the wider audience I feel it deserves.
