I bought this copy of this book for my daughter...I'm still in the process of reading my copy. I find Modesitt Jr. is always pretty long winded in getting to the point at the start of his novels, and he lays a lot of groundwork for the story and the series, in my opinion. It can get tedious, esp. if you are new to his writing, but I do think it adds to the story, and helps you understand where the character is coming from. I've not met a L.E. Modesitt Jr. book that I haven't liked yet.....so buy and enjoy.

Imager's Intrigue is the third book in the series. The books are about Rhennthly (Rhenn), he is an apprentice portrait artist, his life was changed by a disatrous fire in the first book. We now come to the third book where Rhenn has come into his own. He has a wife and a young child, and a solid career as an inager. But he has made more than one enemy during his journey from being the apprentice painter to master imager, even his great powers won't allow him to escape his past. I hope L.E. Modesitti writes a fourth book which would bring Rhenn full circle.
