Book Description

When you have a friend you love the best, playing together is huge fun. But sometimes even the best friends argue…

These best friends love to play schools and doctors. Together they look after their toys and put their boots on so that they can splash in puddles.

But one day things go wrong, they shout at each other and then they don’t speak at all. They are both good and pretending that they don’t care about having to play on their own now; but really they care very much indeed.

Perhaps if they could just say “I’m sorry” everything would be good again.

Product Description

Amazon Review

Sam McBratney's Guess How Much I Love You has become a firm favourite with children and adults alike, with its warm and tender story of unconditional love.

In I'm Sorry McBratney turns her attention to the nature of friendship, and explores the relationship between two toddlers who spend all their time playing together, and then watches as they have their first fight.

McBratney captures the emotions of the children with a few well-chosen, thought-provoking words that hit straight to the heart of the matter, reminding the reader that no matter what happens, true friends stick together in the end.

Soft, soothing realistic illustrations by Jennifer Echaus perfectly enhance the rhythm of the text, taking children on a memorable journey that will be utterly familiar.

Perfect for bedtime, or for those tearful moments when young friendships are pushed to the limits, I'm Sorry is an ideal book for sharing. Age Range: 3-6 years --Susan Harrison --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Review

As with his hugely popular tale ‘Guess How Much I Love You’, Sam McBratney strikes just the right note here depicting the highs and lows of childhood friendships. Every parent will recognise that special relationship, so full of innocence and trust, and know just how it is when small arguments cause great anxiety. With gentle illustrations to match the text, this is a classic picture book.

The beautiful illustrations in this book make the words come to life and the reality of the supressed loneliness of each child after the fight is truly heart breaking. The held back tears of an angry little girl are felt as our own tears are held back in order to make sense of the simple yet provoking words. A wonderful book for children and adults alike - nicely bringing together the magical quality of the pictures and the reality depicted in the words. Buy it. Read it. Keep it. To be enjoyed today and everyday for generations to come.
