4.0 out of 5 stars Sick of Bootlegs 20 Jun 2001
By Blauth - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Ahh, "sick of you" - one of the finest and most cutting edge songs in rock history was sadly forgotten owing to the money making schemes of the rock industry. Luckily, Bomp! finally released it and two other classic Stooges songs - "Tight Pants [later known as shake appeal, but infinitely better here]" and "Scene of the Crime" on this maxi-single cd. I would have given the CD five stars if Bomp! hadn't slapped all of the 80's archival cheesemo Iggy takes later on the cd. Even if you're new to the Stooges, this is an essential disc, as "sick of you" isn't available on any of the other bomp! iguana chronical discs like "I got a right" is. Get it now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tell Me a Story 12 Oct 2010
By Best Of All - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Bomp Records has done an excellent job in releasing "archival" material from The Stooges/Iggy Pop and this EP is an odds-n-ends collection built around a trio of tracks - I'm Sick of You, Tight Pants (Shake Appeal), Scene of the Crime - from the "Raw Power" studio sessions, which are then presented live during stops in Pop's lenghty solo career.

Tours from 1978, 1980, 1986 and 1993 (five total tracks) give a whirlwind view on how Pop used a familiar canvas, but splashed different paints around depending upon where he was artistically. Though the concept is intriguing, the CD probably has more interest to hardcore collectors than those looking for a firm foundation to check out Pop for the first time....but for the latter, there will be a time - soon - where the journey will end up at Bomp's authorized releases under the "Iguana Chronicles" banner, like this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stooges best song 3 April 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
An uneven collection of Iggy lore. "Tight Pants" and "Scene of the Crime" are worth having , but neither rises to the level of tension and power of the title cut. All but a couple of the live tracks are "fan collectibles" (read). Embarrassing. Nice slimcase packaging. Not perfect, but "Sick of You" justifies it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Iggy 3 April 2013
By Lisa and Tom - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I've been an Iggy fan since I was a kid in the 1980's and to me this is a core Iggy and the Stooges album and ultimately my favorite. In fact for years I never knew this wasn't a core release. Back when my friends and I used to drive all across NJ to search the stacks at real record stores for hard to find stuff like the Misfits and Iggy this was my second Iggy purchase and my favorite.

I've never understood why this compilation has never gotten more respect and notice. The title track is to my mind one of the best tracks the Stooges laid down right next to Seek and Destroy. That alone (as other reviewers noted) makes this a worthy album for the collection. The remainder of tracks are strong Iggy material and in some cases better than their 'authorized' version. In most cases there is no official album release of the material at all.

There do appear to be two versions of the song 'Consolation Prizes' around. My first copy of this album was vinyl (white) and had a rocking version of the track. The three CD versions I've owned / heard since all have a muted and uneventful version. Maybe there are still things to be hunted down...

This is a must to even casual Iggy fans. I would buy this before the Stooges first album if I was building a collection.
