No subscriptions, no batteries to change, weight of a thumb drive and preloaded with gazillions of courses and free updates of courses and firmware. Easy to use!
Not having a screen seemed odd and the thing only has three buttons so how good can it be?
The simplicity that made me question it is what makes it so great.
1 Flip a small switch on the rear to turn it on.
2 Press the center button and a voice says "acquiring course" or similar. In a few seconds to a couple of minutes the voice says " course acquired, proceed to tee. Shotgun start or starting on 10, no problem, press the center and back button when you get to the tee and he/she jumps right to the correct tee. Amazing.
3 Want your shot distance, just press and hold the center button from the point you have or intend to hit from and it says " measuring shot distance". Once you reach the ball you've hit just repeat the same and it tells you the distance and the remaining yards to the green.
4 Just press the center button at any time to hear distance to the green.
5 No need to do anything when moving between holes, she knows where you are. If you skip a hole just press the center and minus button and she automatically adjusts and announce the hole so YOU know she knows.
The thing has plenty of volume and is easily increased or decreased for your liking for loud windy days or not to disturb others. No delay after the initial course acquisition. Anytime I press the button she knows where I am.
I've made it through three rounds on one charge. She'll tell you the remaining battery life during or between rounds, just press the plus and minus buttons simultaneously. Choose a male voice or if you miss the nagging at home you can switch to a female voice or even a foreign language to spice it up. Even better, she will only speak when you push her button. For the ladies, you can choose the male voice and finally have a man that knows what you want and does as he should at the push of a button.
Features to satisfy most and simple enough for a gift for someone with zero tech skills. If they can use a garage opener they can use this thing.
No need to hook up to a computer. Courses preloaded and the included charger has a wall adapter or you can use the USB.
No more scrambling for batteries for a dead gps or squinting to read a screen or walking back to the cart because your gps is too big for your pocket. Clip on your belt, cap, pocket or on your push cart. The thing is light and I've comfortably worn on my beanie with no issues.
She does however only gives you distance to the center of the green. I believe the tour model may give more but this is all I need.
