Product Description

What can you say about the Monkees, the band that started out as an American manufactured answer to The Beatles? Well in the end whilst they might have been

considered cuddly pop sensations rarely off TV screens as a result of a whacky TV series they did mature to produce some enduring and highly respected long players.

I grew up with the Monkees and have fond memories of watching their shows on TV whilst having my dinner after school. I didn't really pay a lot of attention to their music until I heard a track recently and it prompted me to listen to a few tracks on line. They really did come up with some quite decent pop songs for their time and so I bought this collection. In truth, the first CD has most of their well known commercial hits and the second CD comprises of songs I have never heard. This is ok because I get the familiar and the new in one twin cd pack. For the price, it's good value for money.

Unless you were a real avid fan in the sixties you probably won't know a lot of the songs on the album. Having said that, all the hits that you would expect are here on the first CD. It was cheap enough that it was worth buying to get my favourite songs. The rest of the songs are no where near as good as the classics in my opinion but others may like them

I liked most of the songs on cd 1 but found few to like on the second cd. One of the risks of multi cd compilations...

In this collection is the greatest pop song ever written in my opinion, Daydream Believer. Along with the timeless voice of Davy Jones a reminder that pop can be fun and for all ages. I love this CD so much and have been playing conmstantly since buying it.

This album makes the Monkees come alive! I remember the series on TV and I can imagine them singing the songs in the studio larking about like they used to. It's already in the car and I played it when my sister came for a visit, she likes them, too!

I bought this just before Davy Jones passed away. I just suddenly had some of their songs going through my mind and bought this to download onto my MP3. They were a take off of the Beatles but I preferred them to the Beach Boys but probably because of the image also I enjoyed this nostalgic addition to my collection

I got this at a good price via Amazon (it contains two CDs) and it's good to hear sixties music again. But the Monkees are not as good as the Beach Boys, let alone the Beatles. Some of their better known songs, not least "I'm a Believer", are first rate, but others of the 36 tracks are nothing special.

I had this on tape so with cassette players going out of fashion I upgraded as the transfer to digital did not go well. Love the songs, the guys and it makes you feel happy. Condolences to the family of Davy Jones he made me laugh as a kid and will be sadly missed RIP.
