This album makes the Monkees come alive! I remember the series on TV and I can imagine them singing the songs in the studio larking about like they used to. It's already in the car and I played it when my sister came for a visit, she likes them, too!

I wasn't in the Monkees demographic when they first came out in 1967 as they claimed it was 12 year old girls.
They had the advantage of a weekly television programme to push their music and also great songwriters. Who cared if they could sing or play om their records. After all they were supposed to be actors playing a pop group not a real pop group.
They had great songwriters like Neil Diamond working for them.
Looking through the credits I see Mann/ Weill Shades of Gray Goffin / King Pleasant Valley Sunday, Nilsson Cuddly Toy . Most of these songwriter are represented more than once on these CDs.
Who could want for more?

Buying this CD and discarding the tracks I didn't want was cheaper than paying for the individual itune tracks. Good production and CD was in perfect condition.

Pleasantly evocative
I got this at a good price via Amazon (it contains two CDs) and it's good to hear sixties music again. But the Monkees are not as good as the Beach Boys, let alone the Beatles. Read more

Minkees I'm a Believer
I had this on tape so with cassette players going out of fashion I upgraded as the transfer to digital did not go well. Love the songs, the guys and it makes you feel happy. Read more
