I bought this book after buying the following one,
Illustration Now! 3: Vol. 3, and unfortunately it wasn't quite as good. I would definitely recommend buying the third volume first but that doesn't mean that the second volume should be ignored.
Published in the format readers of Taschen books are familiar with, 'Illustration Now! v2' gives a double-page spread (sometimes more) to a number of contemporary illustrators, showcasing the best of their work and giving you a little information about their background. The book is a bit limited by its format (A5 hardcover) but it is great to use as a starting point - use the images inside as inspiration and google your favourites. It's a great value alternative to some of the more expensive art/illustration books out there and is perfect if you haven't got a specific illustrator or style in mind as it covers a wide variety.
I don't have any background in illustration and bought the book solely as a collection of 'pretty pictures' to look at (as well as inspiring possible future tattoos). It's great as a 'coffee table' style book and you can easily lose a few hours in its pages or just dip in and out as you please.
