If I reveal that I've spent hours within a week of getting the book, searching the internet for any publications, galleries, websites etc of the artists featured within it would be obvious the book has made an impression on me.
The selection of work is really top notch, many of the featured illustrators have worked for huge household name companies and it almost diminishes their work to think of it as illustrating some brand or idea for a company when what it really is, is approachable, vibrant and exciting artwork.
The styles are varied too going from surrealist to fashion illustration to font based displays and everything inbetween. A minor point though, this was the 2nd book I got after the re-issue of illustration now and the book is not the same size. I had a chance to look at the first edition of 'illustration now' in a bookshop in asia and it is like this latest one, bigger with more art and more art by the featured artists. It is the one with the Gary Baseman cover so if anyone is collecting them, I'd advise them to seek out a copy of this earlier edition.
I've already ordered a print that I saw in this book so the content has certainly struck a chord with me. I've already ordered Illustration Now 2 to complete the set. If they do anymore, I'll get them gratefully. There are many books on Illustration featuring modern work but this is one of the best.
